Question About Renting Points

Hi! We are thinking about renting points through a broker for a 2 bedroom at BLT for three nights either the first or second week of February 2017. If we go down this route, I am going to make sure to have everything ready exactly at 11 months out. Do you know how likely I am to get one of these? Also, I called and got a quote for the Contemporary over the same time period and the costs are comparable assuming we get some kind of discount through Disney from the Contemporary room. That being the case, which would you recommend? It seemed like the 2 bedrooms were fairly big, and I like the idea of a kitchen, though we would probably just bring snacks and breakfast foods for there. It is a trip for my parents, and then me, my husband and our two children who will be 4 and 6 when we go. We just went this past September and stayed at the Polynesian and went May of 2014 and stayed at WL. We have never rented DVC points so I'm trying to figure out which will be the best option. My parents only request the whole trip was that we stay on the monorail which is why I had looked at BLT. Thanks!

I would always prefer the two bedroom. You will also have the washer and dryer which is great. Just make sure you are aware that there is no turning back with a DVC rental. It is almost always a nonrefundable transaction.

Since DVC I do miss having the villa when I have to stay in a hotel room. The fridge, the microwave and the washing machine the most. :) One of the bigger differences when you stay on DVC points is that you will not receive daily housekeeping if that makes a difference. I really like having a common unit for family trips.

Feb is a slower time and if you are renting right at 11 months there should be no problem getting the 2BR.

Yep, another thing to keep in mind. However, don't knock it until you try it. It's great not having to worry about someone coming in your room every day!

At 11 months out you're likely to find an owner who will rent out pts to you. The bigger rooms (which cost more points) are also usually not as popular as the cheaper studios. We have a 'home' resort at BLT and we love it there!

If you are open to any view than you should have no trouble getting the room- if you only want it if you get a standard view room than you have at least a 50/50 chance.

If you're ok with a pool view, you could wing it a little bit and wait for 7 months. First two weeks of February are a very slow period for DVC, so getting a 2BR at 7months Lake View should be possible. This way you won't pay the premium price to rent points in the 11 months window.

Thanks for all the info. We are doing a Disney Cruise before hand so I have been bogged down in getting that booked and now I am back to looking at this. What I might do is go ahead and do a room only at the Contemporary and then if a 2 bedroom is available at 7 months, switch and do that. Thanks again!
