Question about renting points

We are booked to go on a 7 night cruise in may and are then going to do 10 nights at WDW. However we have some family that want to come with us and stay in the same resort. They would be flying out with us but staying in WDW the whole time (18 nights).

I was thinking of renting some extra points from someone on the DIS but wasnt sure how it would work? Do they transfer the points into my DVC account?

you can ask someone to transfer the points to your account,which you pay for,your alowed to do this once per year.this would alow you to control the booking as it would be in your name,and you contact member services to book
Renting points you pay the renter,they then book th room and have controal of the booking,the rentie cannot contact meber services re booking
Would say its beter to have contol of the booking,so try looking for someone who would transfer the points
