Question about renting convertible

Why do the rental companies have the convertibles listed as 2 passenger cars were thinking about heading to the beaches(Santa Monica,Redondo etc etc) It will just be my wife daughter and I I'm sure it holds at least 4 but was just wondering why they all say 2.

That's a good question. I've never noticed that before but the most common convertibles at rental car facilities are Ford Mustangs and Chrysler Sebrings. Both can hold 4 people, however don't expect to put any luggage in the trunk and put the top down at the same time.

Most of the backseats in convertibles are pretty useless, very small and some like a Miata (not that common, but they are in fleets) and Corvette (often a higher end rental) really only seat two.

That said, have you ever owned a convertible? For the front passengers that can be a lot of fun, but in the high summer they suck down in Florida, you'll burn on a long drive. For rear passengers, they are SO UNCOMFORTABLE, not just the seating but the wind issues and if you have long hair its even worst.
