How much have recent increases (in the past year or so) added to the tax / insurance / surcharge on UK to US flights?

I know what we previously considered to be good flight prices and am trying to estimate how much I need to add in order to come up with a current lowest likely fare - if that makes sense!

I don't know how much the taxes etc have gone up but I am allowing approx £100 pp more then what I usually pay - then I think thats a good price.

All the flights seem to have shot up a lot, I used to pay £300 - £350 return with virgin, but that seems £400 - £450 now!

Yes, it's the same for us - even the current 'sale' prices for any of the airlines we check are around £100 more than we paid for flights this April / May (booked last July). We're hoping to book for this November and I'm wondering whether there's any chance they might ever come back down to the £350 mark, or whether the tax/surcharge increases have made this impossibly low now.

I still think £450 is actually good value, but I know I'll kick myself if I later find I could have saved some ££ - always a possibility, I know :)
