Is it possible to make reservations in advance, or do you have to just wait for a table on the day? Last time we waited 3 hours for 4 of us to get a table... I dread to think what the wait would be for 10 of us this time around...

And could you say, go to the restaurant at 3pm, and try and get a table for about 7pm?

Thanks :thumbsup2

I believe you may be able to make reservations calling Rainforest directly. I do know that you can not make a reservation thru Disney's ADR. Since Disney does not own the restaurant.

no adrs heer but if you sign up to there adventurs club think $15 you get priority seating (1st avalabe seat when you go to elepant)and 10% of bill

Unless it has changed, I have made reservations for the Downtown Disney location, I had to call the restaurant directly, not disney dining.

You can make reservations for the AK one only.

Through Disney, that's correct. But you can make reservations for the DD location through the restaurant directly.

Yes, the number I gave above is the direct line for the DD Rainforest. I made my reservations for December and it took about 3 mins.

Personally, I wouldn't waste any time at RFC at DTD. We've had nothing but bad experiences at RFC, both DTD and AK.

I'd go with Earl of Sandwich. Then over to Ghiradelli's for dessert.

Why on earth would anyone wait so long for such a mediocre, overpriced restaurant :confused3

We love the Rainforest Cafe! Great atmoshere and the food we ordered was fantastic. We're going back again this October. I'm salivating thinking of the Island Bruchetta appetizer... yummy!!! I made an ADR this week (for October). It took 30 seconds. You can't do it through Disney, you have to call the DTD location. Here's the number: 407-827-8500

Oh dear... do I sense somebody doesnt like this place? ;)

We absolutely love it, it's a great atmosphere, not too pricey (we're from England where everything seems to be a hundred times more expensive than Disney prices) and fantastic for the kids. The service is great, the choice is wide, and the portions huge :teeth:

I can't wait to go back there and can't understand why people don't like it. But that's just me, the theming for us is amazing, just another great disney experience :thumbsup2

And I agree about the bruschetta too - absolutely delicious! pixiedust:

Can I ask those who didn't like it, what was wrong with it? We just loved it!

Here's why I don't like it.

First, the wait. You wait for an hour or two, they call your name and move you to another place to wait for another 15-20 minutes. Then they finally seat you.

Second, the service. We have not had good service in two trips. Not even mediocre service, bad service.

Third, the noise. This has got to be the noisiest restaurant I have ever eaten in. I like to converse with my family while I dine. Can't do it at RFC.

Fourth, the food. We have had some of the foulest food at RFC. My husband was served a smoothie with a large chunk of plastic in it. When he pointed it out to the server, he shrugged his shoulders and asked what we wanted him to do about it. I had the pot roast which was a large hunk of gristle with NO meat on it. And I hate the way they pile up the food on top of each other. What's wrong with putting a few things around your main course? When I complained about the pot roast, the server said she would remove it from our bill, but it didn't get removed.

So, if the food is bad, the service is bad, the wait is bad, what is good about it?????? I can't eat theming.

Not our choice. I even gave it a second chance after the first fiasco and the second time was not a bit better. Burn me twice??? Adios.

It sucks that you had such a bad experience there! I think the same can be said for a few restaurants we ate at in Universal...

It's amazing how the same restaurant produces such different dining experiences for different guests... I will agree with you about the noise level though, but to us it was just part of the atmosphere of the place, it didn't detract from our enjoyment at all :goodvibes

Deb, I'm sorry to hear you've had such bad experiences at RFC. We have been there 4 times and have had great experiences every time. It's our family's traditional first-night restaurant. The only trips I haven't dined there have been my adults-only and solo trips. When I mentioned skipping it on our upcoming trip so we could try something new, my sons were outraged. I quickly retracted the suggestion. ;)

We always call the restaurant directly to make a ressie about a month ahead of time and have never had any problem doing that. When we get to the restaurant we are immediately taken to the line where you wait to be seated, so we do have to wait 10-15 minutes, but that's it.

I agree that it's a very noisy restaurant, but we thought it was nowhere near as noisy as Planet Hollywood and no noisier than 'Ohana (and less annoying than the CM yelling into the microphone).

We have never had a bad server. We've had one or two okay servers, and a couple of very good servers.

Our food has always been really good. We go mostly for the theming but have never been disappointed in our meal.
