I think I know the answer but wanted to check. I'm going to purchase an OBC for our upcoming Alaskan cruise. I plan on using my Disney Visa for the 6 months no interest.

My question is that since the cruise embarks in Vancouver, will it be billed in Canadian money or through USA Disney? I have another card that doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee that I could use.

I'm 99% sure it will show up in US currency but does anyone know for sure?

Thanks

It doesn't matter where the cruise embarks from. Those transactions are processed through DCL's headquarters in Florida.

All transactions on all DCL ships are done in US Dollars. You're not really purchasing on board credit, what you're doing is putting money into your on board account.

On the European cruises the Ship stays on US$, although cash tips in Euro are accepted. You on board account will be in US$.

Cruise newbie here...besides budgeting, is there any reason or advantage to having an OBC?

Yes

Budgeting I put on some = to my plans, I do not want to worry about a big bill on my last night, I want my children to enjoy themselves so everytime they say Dad I purchased this I purchased that and that handbag was only $500 its paid for, I do not want to see my vacation on my credit card bills after i am back home.

Also for us who do not use $ I like to put on OBC when the exchange rate is good, as i bet it will take a tumble just when the bill goes through and ad 10%.

I saved $5000 on exchange rates for my upcoming cruise, paying for it when that rate was 1.70 and before it fell to 1.4
