Question about purchasing dvc aps

We will be arriving at VWL tonight at around 6:00, and our plan for the evening was dinner at WCC and settling in. Well, I'm lying awake in bed because I'm too excited to sleep, and I realized that if I want to buy our discounted APs, I'm going to have to do it at a park. It can't be done at guest services at the resort (right?). We have an 8:10 ressie at Crystal Palace on saturday morning, so either we're going to have to get everyone out the door very early on saturday morning, or we're going to have to go over to mk tonight after diner. If we do that, the kids are going to want to go into the park

The member site is telling me that they can be purchased at a disney ticket store or through MS. but they'd have to mail me a voucher, right? And I'd still have to get the physical aps at a park gate, right?

So, what would you do? How much time would you allow for purchasing the APs at the park if you went with the morning option? Forgive me. I only have to think about this every other year, and we usually don't start out with such an early reservation on our first day. And why the heck can't they just sell these at the resorts?

You can get new AP's at the resort but they will be on a KTTW type of card and some Guests don't like that idea. Your only other choice is at Guest services at any park or DTD. You could take a after dinner trip to DTD for desert at Ghirardelli's or a treat from Goofy's Candy Company.

I really wouldn't mind getting them on our kttw cards, but for some reason, I was under the impression that they couldn't sell them art the resort. It will mean a lot less running around tonight if that's the case. if not, DTD sounds like a good option-better than the temptation of being right there at the park. I was just thinking that mk would be closest.
+/- 1 day for activation won't matter for us because next summer's trip will be in july.,

That changed as part of the "Lilo" software upgrade.
