Question about purchasing AP's

We usually go to WDW once a year in August (skipping this year). We are a family of 5 from NJ. I am wondering if buying AP's for the family would save us money, if we used them for 2 trips. We would go both years in the month of August but once at the end of the month and the next year at the beginning of the month. We usually go for 10 days. In the past we stayed deluxe but it seems the great rates we used to get are not available anymore. We would probably stay swan/dolphin or a moderate the next 2 times. I guess we would have to run the numbers but wondering if AP's are really worth getting. Do AP's really give much better resort discounts then what's available to the public??? Any other perks that come with them? Thanks for any info.

Gettin APs will absolutely pay for itself in the case you describe above. In fact, about two separate 4 day trips is roughly the break even. This is a no-brainer if you go for 2 10-day trips.

In addition, your AP provides you access to Memory Maker, and free parking at the parks (not the resorts), among the other dining and merchandise discounts. See page link for other AP specials.

So you will be going for a total of 20 days and a AP is just over $1K so you are will be spending $50 a day at WDW with an AP. Now the prices are $133 a day to go to a park and will go up by the time you go again next year. So getting a pass is a good deal. If belong to Sams Club you can get $150 worth of Disney GC for $8 off which will help with the total cost of the AP. As long as you trips are planned like you said the first one at the end of the Aug the other at the beginning because AP will expire one year from the date you purchased them.

Thank you for the information. Surprised Disney covers the park parking but not resort parking. Kind of encourages people to stay off site if they have a car.

What do you think of the new Premiere Passport pricing at a whooping $2K ($1,949 plus tax)?!!! :crazy2:

I'm actually considering it as a Christmas present for myself. Disneyland is closer for me and I can do weekend trips down there and then one big WDW trip for a week or so.

If you could go to WDW for 7 days (7 x $50 = $350) and could at least go to DLR for 21 days or more (21 x $80 = $1,680) in one year... Premiere Pass is definitely the best route.

That is a very nice Christmas present; very awesome! I envy you Jason_V

I'm nearly committed to the idea right now, knowing full well I am requiring myself to pay for it in cash around Christmas time. I know I'll be in Orlando for sure next year for Destination D...and I kinda like the idea of having a recurring Disney trip on the calendar. I'd jump down for things like the Halloween or Christmas parties or new shows/openings. My trips also wouldn't be so packed like they are now.

I totally know I'm blessed to even be thinking of this. :smooth:
