So I'm gona pay it online and then go down to Anaheim with the eticket to get the card. Will I have to pay for parking or is the eticket sufficient since parking is included with the premium ap?

thanks

I got my PAP online as well. You will have to pay for parking that first time, but save your receipt, and when you go to the AP Processing Center to get your official card, you just give them the receipt and they refund it right away.

Thanks and is the processing center located by the entrance? I assume it will only take minutes to get my card?

There is one at the end of Main Street in Disneyland on the left, just after Coke Corner, before you enter Adventureland. There is also one that tends to be less crowded in DCA on the left just as you enter. I got my card on a weekday during off season, so there was literally only one person in front of me, but I have seen the wait go out the building on occasion too, so it just depends. If you're worried about losing time, one thing you should know is that the paper ticket they give you when you first enter the park is a valid hopper, so you can get FastPasses right away. The only rule about getting your ID card is that you have to do it before you leave that day, so if there is a line at the processing center, you can just keep using the paper ticket to get FP's and such until the line dies down!

The AP Center in CA is in the Greetings from California store right inside the enterance of the park. The AP centre is in the middle of the store, and it's quick and very easy to get the AP there. Last month I took my e ticket for my Premium AP into this store and within 5 mins had the AP and was hunting for a place to have lunch. Find that it's easier to get the AP there than at DL.

It depends on when you go - I renewed my pass at DL in October - at about 11:30 I walked right into the AP processing center with no wait at all. But it's usually a lot easier if you do it first thing when the park opens, rather than waiting until the end of the day - I have seen really long lines for the one at DL in the late morning and afternoon.

I've been snapped at before for saying this but there's no reason not to do it.

Show your eticket to the parking attendant. One of two things will happen. 1) They'll waive the parking fee and you don't have to worry about getting a refund. 2) They'll say you have to pay for parking then get a refund.

While you're supposed to pay first then get a refund, there's no reason to add the extra step of the refund process if you can avoid it. It can be easy to forget. Especially if there's a huge line at the processing center and you wait a few hours. By then, you may have forgotten all about the parking fee.

There's absolutely no down side to showing your eticket to the parking attendant and attempting to get the parking fee waived up front.

That's true, there is nothing to lose, but when I handed my voucher to them that first time (before I knew about DISboards!), they took it, read it, then handed it back explaining that I'd have to pay now. I guess it's worth asking, but I would be prepared to pay and get reimbursed.

Yes, I would be prepared to pay too but it is worth asking, just in case. I think they make you do the extra step because if your PAP isn't activated yet they have no way of knowing if you're actually going to activate it that day (and therefore should get "free" parking). Someone could use it to get free parking before they've activated their pass which would give them more than a year of parking. I'm not sure if anyone would have a good reason for wanting to do this but I'm guessing that might be why they make you pay and then get reimbursed.

Oh, Lord, here we go again. Should have kept my mouth shut.

Sorry, did you think I was "snapping" at you? I wasn't saying it was a bad idea, I was just saying I didn't think they would do it but I agreed it was worth a try. :confused3 No offense meant. :)

It was almost exactly word for word the same "maybe this is why" argument that flared up last time which drove the conversation completely off topic. Why they prefer pay-first is completely irrelevant even if the proposed reason made sense. (Honestly, who's going to put up hundreds of dollars for an AP that includes parking, go to Disneyland, park, and not go inside Disneyland or DCA?)

Sometimes they'll let you park without paying first and it doesn't hurt anything at all to try. That's the entire point of my original post. If there's some reason why my suggestion might be a bad idea, by all means, throw it out there.

I just payed for the entrance parking and then got the refund in cash. Went to the one in CA and it went pretty fast.

Different people read posts whenever they are posted. You have an entirely different audience each time something is posted. Your contribution is valid each and every time you post it. And someone coming in to give their experience also has a valid point each and every time they post it.

From never having seen your suggestion before, and just reading along in this post, *no one* snapped at you *at all*. Your "here we go again" was an overreaction, IMO.

It's just like when someone asks about upgrading a ticket they bought ahead of time. At DLR, the policy is to charge the difference between gate price and what the person *paid* (different from WDW's policy). Some people, sometimes, get a nice CM who charges them as though it's gate price minus gate price of what they had, or discounted price of ticket wanted minute discounted price paid. That's lovely. It's not policy, and it's not everyone's experience.

So it's valid to say "this might happen", and it's also valid to say "but don't expect it", and that's the exact same situation here.

As for the why.... IF the AP e-tickets didn't expire, I could think of the situation where *this* year I only need a Deluxe, but I have some money to burn and next year I will need a Premium. So I buy the Premium e-ticket, play the game at the parking garage, getting free parking until it's time for me to get the Premium activated. And then I get free parking for the year of that AP. Even with it expiring, it's a few months. So if I played the parking game, I'm getting free parking for those free months with my Deluxe, and then I get the Premium's parking for the year of my pass once activated.

Wow. You folks just can't let it go, can you. Wow. There's no reason not to present the eticket and try to get the parking fee waived up front. End of story.
