How do record the POV ride videos. Do you have a mount that you attach to the ride car as soon as you board or the ride starts? Do you simply hold the camera? I'm curious as I am going to use my new camera on our next trip and I think the ride videos are a lot of fun.

In virtually all of them I've seen on YouTube and Vimeo, the person is holding (or wearing) the camera.

I guess you are right, but I was thinking more of the ride videos where you can see yourself. I have seen some where it looks as if the riders are not holding the camera(the seem to steady to be freehand). It seems as if it is mounted to the ride vehicle.

Gorilla Pod?
Clipped to safety bar?

Certainly an exception and not the norm.

I use a pole by Platinum that telescopes from 9-27". I extend it out just far enough to rest on the ride car (my ride car) in front of me, which helps provide stability to the shot. Lots of examples of footage in the video in my signature.

Selfie Stick
It's obviously not a selfie stick as the rider raises both hands on the ride. And it also is not being filmed by someone holding a camera because it is so steady. As I said I have seen several ride videos like this(not just Disney) and I am curious as to how people mount their cameras securely.

Have you ever had any problem with using it on any attractions. Being told that you can't use it? I also don't want to ruin other riders experience.

I mentioned how in my post above.

HERE is a link to the GorillaPod.

I never had a problem with being allowed to use it, and I don't think it interfered with anyone else's enjoyment of the ride - it was tethered, not raised overhead, and not in anyone else's line of sight.

That ride video has to be the most boring one i have ever seen-lol. I guess i always thought the point of a ride video was to see the ride from the POV of the rider
But i guess it would be neat to see your kids reaction to the drops :)

I didn't watch the video, but I am familiar with the type. It's one thing if you are just making the videos for yourself and your family, but some people who purport to want strangers to watch their YouTube videos make a very contemporary mistake: instead of pointing the camera at the interesting place they are visiting, the point the camera at their own faces and blather on. Note to people who do this: nobody wants to subscribe to a channel where every video is your head spouting whatever noise occurs to it in the moment while everything we actually want to see is out of the frame!
