Question about possible availability

We are just in the process of purchasing DVC and expect to close with 160 SSR points early August. We'd like to take our first trip using points in January. We'd like to try a few different resorts, hopefully AKV, VWL and BCV. Our dates are flexible. What do you think are our chances? We'd be 5 months out.

You will not know until you are ready to reserve, but at five months out, and for you likely closer to four by the time you actually have a member number and can reserve, you are often looking at being able to get SSR and possibly OKW or AKV standard or savanna view, but anything else could be a problem. Moreover, even SSR, OKW and AKV could be a problem if you want first few days of Jan, the Thursday through Sunday of marathon weekend, or time right around Martin Luther King day.

At a glance there is currently availability for Studios & 1BR in Jan at all 3 so long as the dates are flexible. The 7 mo window has already opened so that could be a good sign, but as drusba said you can't count on availability to be there when you are ready. Be ready to book ASAP when you close (we called & got our numbers to make a reservation 2 weeks before our packet arrived) Good Luck

Thanks for the posts, guys. I am hopeful. And if I end up at SSR, I will be plenty satisfied. After all, it is Disney.
