Question about Port Arrival Time

We are booking a fly, cruise, snooze package the night before our cruise. Trying to decide on a pick-up time for our shuttle on cruise day. Our PAT is 12:45 (we booked late). Is there any reason to be there earlier than that? Any chance we are boarding before our actual listed PAT or should we just get there at that time? I'd like to board as early as we can. We cruised on DCL once before and they didn't use the PATs at all. We all just lined up and boarded. But, it was less than half full because of Hurricane Matthew so I don't have any other experiences to go by. Thanks!

At Port Canaveral, "open boarding" is usually called around 12:30pm -- open boarding is when it doesn't matter what boarding number you have, everyone who has checked in may board. The PATs and boarding numbers are used to prevent the terminal from getting too crowded (fire regulations), so once those initial crowds have moved out of the terminal and onto the ship, it's no longer necessary to worry about PAT and boarding numbers.

Enjoy your cruise!
