question about points

I have a question about points and what I have to use. I have a June use year.
My 2009 balance is 0.
My 2010 balance is 0 (booked cruise for 2011).
My 2011 balance is 123 (some used for cruise in 2011)

I was thinking of booking a reservation for May 2010. Is this possible or do I have to book a reservation that is after June 1 in order to use points.

No you cannot use June 2011 points for a May 2010 trip. You could borrow those 2011 points for a trip that occurs between June 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011, but not for any that begins before June 1, 2010.

I corrected my post because I thought initially you meant for May 2011. So no you cannot do it.

Here's what you probably can do to enable a May, 2010 (09 UY) trip:

Borrow from your 2011 UY into your 2010 UY. MS may need to create a reservation to do so. If that is needed, the reservation is then cancelled.

Substitute those 2011 points for the appropriate number of 2010 points currently used to book the DCL cruise. You can do this substitution for a DVC reservation, but I am not sure it is possible for a DCL reservation. You will have to ask MS and possibly a supervisor. If you can do the substitution, you will have 2010 points which are not being used for the cruise.

Borrow those 2010 points into 2009 so that you can book for May 2010. Realize that if you need to cancel, those points will expire at the end of May, 2010.
