Question about points and non-home resort

If we buy 150 points resale for the Villas at Wilderness Lodge does that mean that we are limited to only those 150 points when we want to consider VWL our home resort?

In other words, will I be able to call 11 months out and book a stay that is more than 150 points at VWL using some points we have at SSR?

Not at 11 months unless you borrow from the next year's alotment of VWL points. You can't combine points at resorts to take advantage of the 11 month booking window. You could book with your 150 points, then at 7 months continue booking with your SSR points.

or you can follow my plan - bank the resorts point that you are going to use this year.

borrow the other resort points - now you have 300 this year borrowing at VWL - and 300 point next year at SSR banking.

or if you are going in a fairly easy time - just wait until the 7th month.

There are actually several approaches you can take and a number of hybrid choices for this scenario.

• You can bank and borrow as suggested.
• You can split stays between resorts.
• You can use cash for some days, especially weekends.
• And my favorite is to book a split stay then change the other resort over to the desired resort at the 7 month window.

The advantage of the last one over the first is that you minimize the use of banked and borrowed points. Current use year points are always more flexible and much safer. Usually weekends are the best to leave for last. Of course things like a GV at any resort or standard view at BWV, may work better with banking and borrowing.
