Hello-
Does anyone have a photo book from Shutterfly?

On the back, is there a UPC code????

They seem to have the best pricing, but online, the back page shows a UPC code. Not sure if I am OK with that. This would be a gift for my parents, of some photos from DDs wedding, so, it is something special.

Thank you!!!

Yes, it does, but it's very small and never bothered me! It doesn't have the price printed in numbers, just the bars - so it won't give away the cost if that's what you're worried about.

Thank you!

It may just change what photo I put on the back, and perhaps just don’t put one there.

Just choose a smaller, horizontal photo that won't go all the way down the page. This way the UPC code looks like it's in a bottom border of the page. And choose a group photo with everyone is in it, (and not a favorite,) so one person's photo doesn't get messed up.

This photo of the baby on the right is definitely too low on the page. :( The UPC code definitely needs some space around it to separate it from the photos.

Ok-I feel like I have worked on this all day, and have nothing to show for my efforts. I am beyond frustrated. Glad I am starting this early, ideally it would be a Christmas present.

I’m sure once I get the hang of it, the rest will go better. Still not a fan of the upc. Shutterfly has a special this weekend, but I suspect there will be more deals in the fall.

If you are new, and still bit frustrated, then don't worry about meeting this one promotion deadline.
Yes, there will be more.
Take your time!

I am not sure why you are concerned about the UPC code???
I generally don't count the back of the book binder as a real 'page' in the book.
As shown, if you do not place a photo there, where the UPC is, then it doesn't affect any photos.

Shutterfly books are great!!!

Yes, there will be more holiday specials. That is one of their busiest times of the year - along with Mother's Day and post weddings, I suspect.

Also, if all the photos you've tried are being placed too low, you can add a border to a photo.

Do you have any photo editing software program on your computer? Most people have Paint or Paint 3D bundled as part of Windows. There is also Paint.net which is a FREE software program for to download. (I have it. :thumbsup2) Essentially, you create a larger, blank background image than your current image in any color you want. Save that background image. Then you insert your photo on top as a "New Layer." Move it around to where you want. You can even shrink your photo to fit. Make sure it's well above the UPC code. Save it under a new name - NOT the name of your real image. You should now have your image inside a border. Then test it out on the Back Page.

Longer directions:
What you do is bring up the photo in your photo editing program. Click around till you find the image size. Note the size.

Then go to the Files button in the program. It will usually say something like Open (to look for a file on your device,) or Open NEW Image. Click on New Image. It will bring up a white background that is your new "photo." (You can also change the color to any color you want.) Make sure the DPI is 300 dpi or more.

Adjust the size of the photo so that it is LONGER than your current photo. Save it under a name like "Test background1". (Play around with it till you have a size you want that will fit the back page. You may already have another photo that takes up the whole back page. Use the dimensions of that photo.)

Then insert your current photo onto the background (as a new layer.) It should automatically be smaller/shorter. You can grab & adjust the corners to make it smaller and have a white border around it larger or smaller. Move it around, to where you want - leaving a space at the bottom near the UPC code. Save it again under a different name so it's a separate photo than the background & your photo. Then try it on the back page to see if you like it there.

I've done Shutterfly books, for myself and to give as gifts..... as recently as this past Spring.
Please don't let the UPC bother you. I actually had to get up just now to go check the back of mine. I didn't even know there is a UPC symbol there.
