This isn't about me it involves my cousin and I don't have an answer for her since I really don't use ebay. So I thought I would post her message here in the hopes that someone here would have any ideas??
I had an auction on eBay for a gold bracelet with a 1904 gold coin which I took to a jewelery store to make sure it was real and weigh it. The auction had a no return policy because I did not want to get scammed. I made it very clear not to bid and I would answer all questions before a person bid. The winner paid $980 for the bracelet which was 49 grams and the coin 22K. When she received it she wrote and said she wanted to return it because it did not match her other jewelry. I did not like the scenario at all. When I told her I don't take returns she filed a claim against me for selling an item "different than advertised". She claimed my photo of the bracelet showed it as being 1cm across. The picture clearly showed 8mm for anyone who can read a ruler. Paypal advised me to take the item back and they were siding with her since she used a credit card and if she disputed the item with them she could possibly keep the item and the money. I got the thing back and all looked okay so I offered it to the next highest bidder. They bought it for $10.00 less so all seems not so bad. Before I mail it I just wanted to make sure all was okay. To the jeweler I went and it tested as gold still but it weighed only 33 grams now. The jewler told me that he has been scammed by TO many people who claim "the item is not as described" as soon as I heard that I knew! It would seem this scammer cut a piece of every link off until she got about $300.00 worth of gold. I reported this to Paypal and they are treating me like a criminal. They are currently holding the funds of the new purchaser which I obviously have to return with what I've learned because they are not going to want this thing now. Paypal won't even let me do that. What am I suppose to do? Idiots
