Question about park tickets with a split stay

Flight schedules didn't cooperate, so we're coming in a day earlier than planned. Can't add a day on to our package, so we're going to do a RO somewhere the night before. If we stay at a different resort the night before, do we have to check in at the second resort before we can use our park tickets?

You can use your park tickets up to 3 days before your package starts. You will have to stop by a guest services location either outside one of the parks or at Disney Springs.

Thanks! We're booked at YC but will probably spend the additional night at AKL and go to AK the next day, so I wanted to make sure we wouldn't have to go ALL the way over to YC and back in order to use our tickets, that'd be a pain! I assume, however, dining credits wouldn't start until we checked in at YC correct?

You should get a roll of Mickey Stickers for writing "Disney Springs" instead of Downtown Disney.

First time I've seen that term used on DisBoards (except about future DTD plans). Do you know if there's a ceremonial day when Disney Springs becomes DTD's new official name? How about the new "Official Acronym" for internet forums?
