question about park passes on room keys

I just booked free dining for our trip this August with one day base tickets. We already have our park tickets left over from a previous trip so we will be using those. I want to save the one day base tickets for another trip. I know when we check in our 1 day base tickets will be on our room key...is there any way I can get the one day base tickets issued separate from the room key? I want to be able to just leave those tickets in the room safe so I don't get them confused with the hopper passes I want to use from the last trip. TIA!

I'm assuming the 1 day tickets for the pkg that you booked don't have the "no expiration" option added. If you want to save those for a future trip, you will have to add that option. I'm not sure of the cost but you can do it at your resort. Be sure that you had the "no expiration" option on your old tickets. as well. If this is not added, tickets are only good for 14 days.

yes, it's the one day base tickets for the free dining package. They will expire 14 days from the first use...if I don't use them until a future trip they will be fine.

the old tickets have no expiration option

I don't know the answer to the OP question, but they will not need to add a no-expiration option to the ticket to use it another time. The 14-day clock doesn't start ticking until the ticket is used for the first time. So, until it is used, it is still valid. And, of course, since it is a 1-day pass, there are no extra days that need to not expire. Does that make sense? I feel like I just talked in circles. :)

No, that's not necessary. The tickets are good for 14 days from the first use so if you don't use them they won't expire! We have several tickets left over from previous free dining trips. We used a couple in January and still have 6 left which DW will use in November. It saved us from getting her an AP this year! We just saved the KTTW cards and use them when we want to.

just bumping up to see if anyone knows if the one day base tickets can be issued separate from the room key :)

I did go to CS at Epcot in November and they would have taken the days off of individual cards and issued a multi-day pass, BUT since there was a price difference in some of the admissions they would have charged the difference. I kept the individual cards instead. So, I guess if they can't do it at the resort, just take them to customer service at one of the parks and they can do it there. Hope that helps.

thanks...I'll ask at check in but if they can't then I'll just have to make sure I keep all my room keys & passes straight. To confuse matters more, we will checking in two different times because we have a room only ressie for the first half of our stay and then a ressie for free dining. So, we'll have current room keys without passes for four nights, old room keys with leftover passes on them, then new room keys with passes we don't want to use this trip :upsidedow

Maybe I'll just bring a sharpie with me and write right on each pass/key so I can keep everything straight

Long post, sorry!!

I think I got "lost" somewhere. Can someone PLEASE explain?

If we want to get and use DISCOUNTED disney tix, lets say thru undercover tourist and NOT use the one days required this trip, they will NOT be invalid because the time runs when you FIRST use it, even a year or two later??

Can add-ons be made to it later, like hopping or MORE days for a future trip. This MAY actually work for us as an incentive to get (DH) BACK to Disney Sept (which I was just about to cancel since we got in on Free dining for Aug).

So, HOW exactly do I get that ticket OFF the room key to "save it". In other words, do I go with it to guest services at MK and tell them I want paper tickets (we'll have 3) to replace it with?

If we have 3 of these tix then can 1 person use all three? I'm thinking maybe my DS and I will return in Sept even if the DH does not want too, and we can use the tix then! That'd be GREAT!

Thanks for the help, sorry I am so DENSE about this!

We marked all ours too. It's the only way to keep track of them. Have a great trip.

OK. What happens is that there is one day pass on each of the KTTW cards. They can then be used at any time by anyone and they never expire. If you take them to customer service (the only way I have personal experience) they will let you upgrade them one at a time, but I understand that depends on the CM who you are working with -- they have a lot of lattitude. We just use the tickets as we need them and only on days we are sure we won't park hop. We have a lot of unused tickets/partially used tickets that we will use up completely in November including some one day KTTW tickets that were issued for free dining -- good luck. Hope this helps.

THANKS so much for "Straightening me out" :rotfl:
Much appreciated!
