Hi,

I'm new here, but was wondering if anyone has experienced this or can give me some insight. I will be going to Disney for my son's 3rd birthday this summer. I plan to buy park tickets ahead of time - 2-day ticket to be able to do Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. For a 2-year-old, there is no ticket, but how does he actually get into the parks? We will have MagicBands to scan, so am I supposed to ask them to add something to his MagicBand that I will carry with us or do they ask for proof of age at the entrance? Just a little confused and want to be prepared so that there won't be any problems once I'm there, causing us to waste time.

Thanks so much!

You just tell them he's two and he walks right in with you. He won't have his own magic band, and you won't have to reserve fp+ for him. He goes through the fp+ line along wih you, obviously on attractions where he meets the height requirement.

You don't need proof of age. Disney believes you. I'm sure there are some trolls out there who would abuse this, but Disney takes the high road, and takes your word for it. Have a great trip!

Trust me, a LOT of them. FL has some of the largest 2 year olds in the country (at WDW).

When we went Sept 2013, my 2 yo granddaughter did have a magic band. It didnt have a ticket or any fastpasses or dining on it BUT it would open the room door. They let her scan her band when we entered the parks because she wanted to be like the rest of us. I can remember if the Mickey glowed green(for go) or blue(for no go) but we just told the castmember at the park enterance that she was 2. Somedays they told us she didnt have to scan and somedays they let her just "pretend" scan.

You'll have MBs which means you're onsite, so he'll have one, too. They send them to every guest named on the reservation. I've seen even bitty babies with MBs on their little wrists. Not sure why the parents did that (again, little *baby*, not toddler, LOL), but they did! So your guy will have a MB if he wants to wear it, too.

Thanks for the info bumbershoot! Didn't know that. And you have to admit, it's silly yet oh so cute for a six month old to have that big band on...at least you can kinda downsize the things a bit.

Yay! Thanks for that! Yeah, I did see that we were expecting to get one for him, so I was hoping for it just in case he wants to "be like mommy" lol (That's the plan to get him to keep the mickey ears on! He wears hats no problem, but if I try to put anything else on his hear - ears, etc. - he always takes them off. I'd love to get pictures with him actually wearing the birthday mickey ears), or if he can reach the door to open it, he can have fun with that. He's tall for his age, but not sure how high up the door thing is for him to put his wrist to it.

But thank you guys again, definitely helpful.

I did a search and stumbled on this thread. :) We are also traveling over my LO's 3rd birthday, she'll be 3 the day we leave for the Dream. My concern is my LO is REALLY, REALLY tall. You think we'll have any trouble? We'll have her passport because of the cruise but I'd rather not carry it around with us.

How old will she be when you go to the parks? That's what matters.

My DS2 wears his Magic Band for the same reason, has every trip since he was 14mo - because Mommy is wearing one!

The age of the child on the date of arrival/check-in is the age the child is considered for the entire trip. If the day of arrival is the child's 3rd birthday then a ticket is required. Likewise, if a child turns 10 on the day of arrival they require an adult ticket.

DGD had a magic band for our trip in Dec (she was 17 months), she didn't want to wear it, but she wanted to fist dump all the Mickey heads :rotfl:
A lot of babies had them on their ankles.

If, by this, you mean there are those who will misrepresent their child's age as 2 when they're actually 3 or a small 4, correct, and that's a hot topic of DIScussion on the boards.

If, instead, you mean there are people on this board who will jump into this thread just to stir up trouble... well, you're right again.
