DD & I will be using disposable underwater cameras while DH uses our normal camera with it's underwater case. Should I pack the disposables in carry-on or in regular luggage? I remember long ago there were warning about how we were supposed to pack undeveloped film, but in this digital age, I've forgotten. Thanks!

I would pack it in your carry on. You can ask to have it hand checked so it doesn't go through the X-ray. I understand that the x-ray for checked baggage is more powerful than for carry ons.

Carry on. It does not need to be hand checked as the machines won't hurt it unless it's an extremely high speed film (which you can't get in disposable)

However, the stronger Xray used for checked luggage will ruin it.
(And I assume you know the regular camera is carry on also? Don't check it unless you want to loose it and not get anything for it :) )

Thank you! I had no idea that they used stronger x-rays on the checked luggage. I will definitely do carry-on then.

I'd consider a cheap digital one... For $50-$75 you can still get a decent one and not have to deal with film.

Heck, there's even a nice Nikon underwater - the Nikon Coolpix S30 runs about $80 at Target with a nice carrying case. Comes in blue, white or pink.

I got one and pictures come out really nice.
