If we decide to do a walk up at Ohana's and are in line by 4:30 pm, how long of a wait do you think we would have. This would be for Saturday, December 17 if it makes a difference (MK open till 10 - no MVMCP). We currently have a reservation at 9:45 pm, but really don't want to wait that late to each.

Thanks for your help!!

There is simply no way that anyone here can make that kind of prediction. It is probably safe to assume that the restaurant will be full that night and that anyone without an ADR will be turned away. But since you have an ADR, you aren't technically a walk-up. Whether they can accomodate you will depend on how jammed they are early on and how flexible the host/hostess wants to be on that particular day. The options range from: "There is nothing we can do. Please come back around 9:00 and we'll see what we can arrange" to "Have a seat and we'll see what we can do". You won't know until that night. Until then, keep checking for cancellations, especially 45 days out when packages have to be paid or cancelled.

When you do a walk up to Ohana you are basically hoping someone doesnt show for their ADR. The earlier you put your name in, the better your chances but that doesnt even guarantee you will get a table at any wait time.

I doubt you will get in...that is a super busy time of the year and they will be booked

We had drinks at the Tambu Lounge this past May, not a very busy time at all. Arrived at the lounge a little after 4 and by 4:30 the line to check in at Ohana was past Kona

A CM came out and told the people in line if they didnt have a resevation they could not get in...just about the entire line left.

The one time we did go to dinner there we had reservations and we showed up 30 minutes before and we still had to wait an hour past our reservation time...and to top it off the food wasnt that great

Usually the line is pretty good by then. Most if not all are turned away, as Ohana stays booked solid most of the time.
But on the chance you are told you could wait, haven't ever heard of anyone told less than 3+ hours. And you must wait there, you can't roam the resort.

Maybe we were just there on a non busy night, but when we were there 3 weeks ago on a Friday evening we had a 5:15 ADR. When we arrived a little before 5, there were probably 15-20 people in line as walkups, probably 4 separate groups. When the restaurant opened, everyone in the lobby that was waiting was very quickly seated, including all of the walkups.

When we left about an hour later, the lobby was deserted ie, no wait to be seated, there was no line waiting for walkups, and the restaurant was far from full.

I say it can't hurt to try!

Last September we tried and tried to get an Ohana rezzie for a Saturday night and couldn't. A CM suggested being at the podium when they opened their doors. We got there 15 minutes early and were already about 10 groups deep in the line. When we reached the podium we told the hostess that we didn't have a reservation she gave us a pager and said we would be accommodated.

We sat in the Tambu Tambu lounge and ordered drinks. Our drinks were delivered and our pager went off.

We waited for a total of 15 minutes. That's less time than we wait for a table at the Olive Garden here at home.

Good luck!

If I were you I would keep the reservation. You can try to get an earlier reservation for that day or another day. When my husband and I were there last September, 2 days prior to when we wanted to eat dinner at Ohana we tried to get a reservation. There was nothing available but they told us if you get there right when they open for dinner there is a chance you can get in. We did that and were told there was a 2 hr wait! Needless to say we ate at Kona for dinner instead.
