We have booked 2 nights at POFQ and 3 at SSR (1-bedroom villa). We now have 2 friends that will be joining us. I want to put them on the reservation so they have room cards, but how does it work with points. Am I going to be charged extra? What about at SSR?? Please help, I am so confused :confused3

You can add them to either for a total of 4 in those units. If you're over 4, the answer will depend on other specifics.

agotta,

At POFQ you will be charged extra if they are going to share your room and they are adults and it is a cash ressie. I do believe the standard rate is 2 adults and 2 children.

At SSR, there is no extra charge if they are going to share your 1 bedrm villa and they fall within the max person allowable quota. I assume they will be sleeping on the fold-out couch.

When we stay at a DVC resort we always and now it's required either before or at check-in to list all names on the ressie that is staying in your villa, They will be issued their own KTTW card with their names on them.

Hope this helps

You will be charged $15 for each adult over 2 in the POFQ room if you booked it for cash via CRO. If you booked POFQ with points, there is no extra charge.

There is no extra charge for adults in DVC accomodations even if you book for cash via CRO.

Occupancy in a studio or one bedroom is four plus one child under the age of three. You will only have linens and beds for four, plus a pack and play in the closet.

If I remember correctly they have just recently changed the occupancy for a one bedroom to 5. Or am I remembering wrong? I sure thought I had read that somewhere.

It wasn't officially changed, but MS reportedly will now allow 5 "unofficially". The CM is supposed to tell you that no extra bedding is provided, though.

Ok I just called and they said that I would be charged $15 per person per night at POFQ regardless of if I paid cash or used points.

That's what it was. I new I had read something about it.

Thanks for clarifying,

Call MS - Bet you get a different answer. I also thought this way at one time and posted. One of the mods called MS and was told that DVC members can have up to the max occupancy in the Disney collection hotels and are not charged extra for it. Doesn't matter how many are adults.

You may or may not be charged for cash through CRO, my understanding in you will not if you use points. CRO will not be able to give you reliable info about DVC options other than the cash rooms they rent out.

So it looks like I will be charged for 2 extra for the first night, which I paid cahs for. Really either way I guess it's not a big deal since we are letting them stay with us for free so either $30 or $60 if they can't afford that, they shouldn't be coming with us:) I can't wait to go! I think they are going to have a blast!! I just wish we were in a 1-bedroom the whole time, but I had these pesky points left over from a trip that was cancelled and they couldn't be used at a DVC resort :( Oh well, I guess it's just 2 nights.

Amanda

Thanks for all your help!! I love these boards!!

Just two nights and they are the first two nights. Good planning! Just think how impressed your friends will be when they see the 1 bedroom! Aren't you glad you are finishing the trip in the 1 bedroom?

Have fun!

RichieGraciemom - I have to because they need room keys.

CarolNM - Thanks!! I know we will have a great time and I will be able to share with them 2 resorts. I have 4 reservation numbers though and I am afraid things will get confusing!!

Res #1 - POFQ paid cash
Res #2 - POFQ DVC Points
Res #3 - SSR DVC points
Res #4 - SSR DVC points for one more night booked by FIL

Wheeww!!

Amanda

You could lie but as you said, you do need room keys. If it's on points, I too was under the impression that there was no additional charge. Did MS tell you it was a charge or CRO?

CRO told me it was. So how would I do this? Just call CRO and add my friends on for the first night, and then call MS and add them on for the next 4 nights? Thanks!!

If it were me, I'd just tell the front desk CM at POFQ about the two extra people when you check in. Maybe the CM will waive the extra adult charge - sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. You are not exceeding the occupancy limits, so it should not be a problem to do it this way.

I have assumed that you will be traveling together or that you will be checking in before they arrive. If that is not true, I would call CRO and add their names so that your friends can check in when they arrive even though you aren't there yet. Be sure to tell the POFQ CM that you have a "points/DVC reservation" for the following night and that you would prefer not to have to change rooms.

I'd call MS on Monday and add your friends' names to the SSR reservation - that will save time at check in even if you are traveling together. If you haven't already, ask MS to link the two SSR reservations together so that you don't have to change rooms.

Best wishes -
