So I got accepted for the Fall program, but I am an unable to attend. My dad is very sick with 2 different lung diseases and I cannot leave my family for 4 months and live 9 hours away. I want to do the college program but I am afraid that since I was accepted and now I can't attend it will ruin my chance at getting accepted again. I want to do it after I graduate in 2 years. Anybody know if this will ruin my chance?

It shouldn't affect your chances... as long as you go ahead and tell them your not going. Hope your dad gets better.

It doesn't hurt you at all to have to decline your invitation - I did it before myself in Spring 09 and now I'm going in just a few weeks! If anything, I think it helps you when you reapply just mentioning that you've already been accepted into the program once before. Don't worry about it:)

okay thanks guys. i didn't know because i already accepted my invitation and paid the $304.50 and just realized i'm not going to be able to attend. i emailed disney and let them know but they haven't emailed back yet. maybe i should call them..

Since you haven't gone through traditions, you aren't a cast member. It shouldn't hurt your chances should you apply in the future. If it does come up(but doubt it will) just tell them what happened. Disney can be pretty understanding! Sadly though, you probably will be out the money you paid. :confused3 I could be wrong though. That was just my understanding.

as crazy as it may sound... i really am okay with losing that 300 dollars as long as it doesn't hurt my chances in the future. i want to do the marine biology professional internship after the program so the program is a pretty big deal to get my foot in the door. this is true for a lot of other programers who want to work for disney. they never emailed me back, i guess maybe i should call them.

That's a good attitude to have! :thumbsup2 I don't remember how they are with emailing back...i know they usually do, but i dont remember if it's usually immediately or takes a couple days. Good luck and I hope your dad gets better!
