Can we buy just a one day ticket for each of us with our reservation and then when we get to disney we upgrade to an annual pass?

The extra days on a ticket isn't much of a deal, but every dollar counts. Get the 7 day ticket, use it once, and then upgrade to an AP. That will give you full credit of a 7 day ticket v. 1 day ticket to your AP.

What if i have an AP expiring in the dates i'm thinking of going? We are looking into Feb 28 - March 7, and our APs expire March 3. If I book the 4/7 deal with a 7 day ticket, can I renew our passes while we are there and count the price of our MYW tickets towards it (and still get the renewal discount?)

Yup. On March 4 use your MYW ticket and then proceed to guest services to upgrade to an AP renewal. You are better off having the hotel concierge remove your ticket from your KTTW card and put it on a separate media prior to March 4.

I thought in order to get the renewal discount, you had to renew before the AP expired? Since mine expires on March 3, wouldn't I have to do this that day or earlier to get the discount?
