ok, I am going to disney in May and again in October...my question is, can I buy a seven day pass with no expiration for my May trip...only use three days, and my DH use the rest of the four days on the pass in October for our trip?????? It would save me a ton of money in the long run...three day passes are so expensive.

Probably not. Names will be printed on passes and, if asked to show ID, then the name on the pass needs to match the name on the ID. Not many people have used the new tickets, obviously, so there's not a lot of data on how strict Disney will be with IDs, but chances are they'll see a female name with a guy using the ticket and your DH will be asked for ID.

Of course, if both of your names are "Terry" or "Sandy" or some other non-gender specific name, you might have some luck ...

Won't the ticket be scanned with your bio readings when you first use it? If so, your husband's bio reading will not match your ticket.

This is exactly my beef that I am harping about in another thread. This new policy stinks! This quote from allearsnet.com on the ticket FAQ (http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/ticket.htm) in response to a question gave me hope:
You are right. Finger scanning was only used for Annual and Seasonal Passports and selected multiday tickets sold internationally. Walt Disney World had never really been *that* concerned about the use of tickets by different individuals per se. What they have always been against was the *selling* of partially used tickets to other individuals.

In most cases you would only give tickets to your family, relatives, or close friends. That was something that could be easily be done and actually was a large factor in Disney's design and use of the new MYW tickets that will require Photo ID, names on the tickets and finger scanning.

But the selling of an already used ticket could involve many different folks. And these folks started making a big business out of it. The law that the State of Florida passed to help Disney (and it only affected Disney at the time the law was written) makes it illegal to *sell* partially used tickets to another individual. The law itself doesn't say anything about the *use* of the ticket by another individual.

The new magnetic strip tickets help prevent this sale. Nobody can just look at the ticket and say there are so many days left. Only WDW's computer system can tell you how many days are left. So most people wouldn't even consider buying an already used ticket that they don't know how many days are left. And that is really what WDW wants to stop.

However, what has been implemented does not seem to have taken family usage of tickets into account in their design (unless what was meant was to eliminate that, and if that is the case, for what reason?!)

When i first went to Diusney 10 years ago they put your photo on the pass at the gate

So if a friend and I are going to Disney for 5 days each and we buy a 10 day pass and I give her some of my ID and we are both Girls would this work or not with these new scanners...are they really going to be that tough :flower1:

If you are both going at the same time it wouldn't work because the computer won't let 2 people in on 1 ticket. If you are splitting the ticket for different dates it still would have your finger scan in the computer.

As I heard it, (I can't verify because I have not visited since Magic Your Way started) tickets that are purchased together will be "group tagged". That means when you go to the turnstiles, and the computer records your first biometric scan, anybody that is holding the other tickets from the same group will be able to use any of those group tickets. If your husband won't be with you on that trip, then unfortunately - no, he can't use them. (All that along with safteymom's caveat! :) )

I'm actually glad they've started enforcing the non-transferrable policy. It's a shame for the honest people who were using them within their family, but it will REALLY help out the people who have been burned to the tune of thousands of dollars by people on EBay, and along route 192 in Orlando who are selling partially used admission.

We are going for 8 days and need to purchase 8 days passes. I only see 7 day and 10 day passes. Can I purchase 8 day passes? Or do I have to puchase 10 passes?

Yes. You can certainly try to share the tickets, but whoever is going second needs to realize that they may well be denied entry to the park.

Not, the new design was not meant to elimiate family use of tickets. But unfortunately, when you try to stop illegal resales of partially used tickets, everyone has to adjust to rules set up to punish those who are breaking them. There are a lot of people out there who are re-selling -- often at higher prices -- partially used tickets, and there are a lot of people out there re-selling fully used tickets by telling people that there are days left on them. By putting names on the tickets, this becomes harder and the victims of this kind of fraud are saved the money they would lose on these transactions. In the course of that, however, the families who swap tickets are hurt. It's an unfortunate bi-product.

Unfortunately, there are no 8 or 9 day passes. You must either purchase 7 or 10 day passes.

The 10 day base ticket is only $10 more than the seven day, so I would recommend that.

I am thinking if your family all have the same last name, you would be able to use the ticket...IF they are going to let (say husband and wife) interchange tickets. (Does this make sense, or is it another blonde moment for me??) Like others said, Disney is trying to stop the selling of partially used tickets and people getting burned.

When you go to the parks, they will have you put your fingers in the biometrics machine. If fingers do not match, they will ask for your ID.

If you are buying the tickets at TDS or elsewhere, you likely will have to take the ticket to Guest Relations or Ticket sales to have them activated. At that time, they will ask for your ID, and apply the name to the ticket... so if the name on your ticket, and the name on your ID don't match.....

Really, this is no different than it was when they put pictures on every ticket back in the early 90's, with exception that you won't have the picture on the ticket.
