Sorry for posting this again and for the long post. I posted a reply and also asked some questions in that reply, but I should have posted a new thread with my question instead. I'm hoping that some of you very knowledgeable Disney people can help me. Back in August though AAA I reserved 2 rooms at the CBR for April 4 - 10 2004. I called the travel agent that I booked the rooms with, to check if she could get the discount on our rooms with the new code and she said that she checked yesterday and today but the CBR is all booked using the code. My question is, couldn't she have applied the code to the reservation I already have? She said the only moderate resorts available using the code is Coranado Springs and Port Orleans Riverside. Why would she have to make another reservation to use the code? I'm confused about how to use these codes work in order to get the discount. A friend of mine said the travel agent (who I've never used before) is lying and could apply the code to the reservation I aready have. My friend said the travel agent only wants to make her commission so she probably is not really trying to use the code and for me to call Disney myself and apply tre code. I honestly don't believe my friend but who know's? Anything is possible these days. I've never used a travel agent before. We've been to Disney 6 times and always book our trips ourselves. We've only been with AAA 1 year and thought using AAA might get us a good discount. The travel agent got us a rate of $160 per room per night, $1922 for both rooms. Getting the discount would save us money. Thanks in advance for the help. Again sorry for the long post. Connie

I can't answer to your specfic situation. However, as a general rule, codes or discounts are generally only available for a specific number of rooms.

For instance if XXX hotel has 1000 rooms and they release a special rate, only 200 rooms may be available to be used on the code. The remaining 800 rooms would be booked at rack rates or with other discount codes.

My advice is go to WDW's site and try and make a reservation yourself under the special code. You will most likely find you cannot, but can with no code.

Though there are some "shady" travel agents, I do believe most are honest & like saving money for their clients. Good service is how they get their repeat business.

Your travel agent is correct. There are a limited number of rooms set aside for the new code rate. I also had AAA ressies booked for CBR - April 10- 16. When I called Disney directly to book the AP rate, CBR had none available. So, I went ahead and changed to Coronado Springs and got the 116 AP rate per night. If the CBR had any discount rate codes availble for your dates, the agent could have transferred it. I suspect they had very few rooms available at the code rate at the CBR to begin with since I called the first day they were available and couldn't get a ressie at this rate.

From what I've heard, CSR and POR are just as nice- the differentiator being the theming and how spread out the resort is. It's all a matter of taste and not level of quality and service.

You could try calling CRO your self and getting a room only rate with a 5 day cancellation policy and a no payment till you get to the resort. If you get that and there is no cancellation penalty with your agent, then cancel the agent's res.

The other posters are correct about their only being a certain number of rooms available at any specific resort. However, I'll add one more thing: just because you can't get the rate today does not mean that you will never be able to get it at that resort. If your agent is willing, have her keep trying to apply the new code. Cancellations happen as people change dates, resorts, etc. and sometimes those discounted rooms show back up in inventory. We tried like crazy to get AP rates for the end of this month and could not when they were first released. But then, after repeated phone calls, we were able to snag the rate, only two weeks before we leave. Other times we have been able to have the codes applied to parts of our stay, with the problematic dates booked at rack, AAA or whatever. It means having multiple reservations, but if it's a big savings the slight hassle can be worth it. HTH.

Thanks everyone for all your help! Spoke to my travel agent and she said she'll keep trying and will call me if she can get a better rate for us. Connie
