Question about Netflix and Wii

so, if i bought a wii or a blue ray dvd player would it still only be as good as my internet?

Yes. If you have a slow internet connection, you will have slow load times and lots of pauses for buffering. If you have a fast internet connection, such as I have through Comcast, you will have a very fast load time and no lags in the program.

I've been seeing commercials about how Netflix can now be streamed through a Wii system.

For the last year or so, dh and I have been debating giving up our U-Verse.. we rarely watch TV, and what we do watch is usually older movies. And dd's, when they do watch, is usually shows such as I-Carly, Phineas & Ferb, etc..

I looked at the Netflix site, and looks as if all these shows can be watched (even if they are older shows, dd's don't care.. they continually watch re-runs through our DVR anyway).

Thanks, :goodvibes

I have Netflix several months and everyone loves it.

We have the Wii in the livingroom, the PS3 in son's room. I use my laptop.
DS at his home using his Wii, and dgs is watching the shows you stated and many oldies instead of cable. The $9. is well worth it :thumbsup2

There is a DVD they send you, I ordered 2 more because one seemed to wear down from use. :surfweb:

Uverse has more than one speed. The lowest is 1.5mb is 30$ish, 6mb is 40$, 12mb is 50$, 18mb is 60$ a month. These are all estimates. But if you currently have the lowest speed you can up it without changes to your contract with AT&T.
So it might be worth it to drop the TV part and up your internet speed for the high download content you will be using.

All the gaming systems have a netflix disc. Wii and PS3 allow it for free, on the Xbox 360 you have to be part of xbox live subscription to use the streaming. In the next month or so, there's going to be a system update to allow streaming directly to your PS3 without the disc. There's no talk as of yet for the Wii to do streaming without the disc.

Just be careful you don't become victim of throttling. For users that have long lists of in demand movies, they'll make them wait longer for the disc. It also depends on how many copies a processing facility has, but if there's nothing else in your queu, they'll send it out from another facility. There's several webpages that come up if you google "netflix throttling".

We use the streaming feature on our PS3 in the family room, the Wii in the basement and now I can stream movies on my Iphone - anywhere.
