Good morning all!

Regarding the name badges/guest of honor/lime green mickey to find other DISers:

My dh has made a point about no names, especially for the children with all the undesireables in the world. He also said there is no sound reason for the adults to have names anywhere.

So now I'm wondering about even having their names on their ears.

Anyone else have concerns about names?

Thanks!
Dawn ***oh gee, wonder if I should use my name???? :smooth:

I too am concerned about the whole name thing.

I don't let my children wear any personalized clothing, hats, ect..

I know that some will say that if a nut job wants to get to your child they can just find out their name by overhearing you talking to them, but I don't like to take any chances.

As for the DIS name tags-just use your "handle"- DFSquare.

We've considered this issue too, and after talking to DD we found out that she already had a good understanding that just because a person knows her name, it doesn't make them a "safe" person. She said she learned it on PBSKids.

Since I can't call my child to come to my side just by yelling "HEY YOU", everyone in hearing distance from me will know my child's name. :teeth:

That said... I've taught them from early on that not all people are nice, and that he is allowed to talk to strangers only when I or DH is there with him, and that the only people he can talk to by himself are Disney CMs, policemen, firemen, and people he knows that I or DH says are OK.

What I've found though, wearing the guest of honor badges in Disney just made his day more memorable. CMs would greet him by name, talk to him, and characters that can speak will talk to him by name. It made him feel special and being that he is a shy boy, made him open up more.

Just my 5 cents worth. (I figure inflation drove up the 2 cents):)

Ok I know bad people can be anywhere...but how many of them will pay $50 to get into a park and do bad things? It lowers the chance greatly IMO.....I will let me daughter where her name badge in the parks.
I know Disney has its downfalls but I have never heard of any bad stories like you hear about local shopping malls where kids were followed into bathrooms and parents were not even in the mall.
I'm not saying it can't happen but I'm comfortable with my child wearing her name badge...make the right decision for your family.

I hope to see more post for both sides of this issue.

Anyone with a bad story that really happened? I'd love to hear it.

My beloved is a federal agent and I think that makes him more aware (paranoid?) of the evils of society. He has dealt with far too many of "those" kind of people and think the worse of every situation.

I'd really like to have their ears embroidered and have the name badges for the excitement of CMs talking to them. I'll have to see if I can work on him a bit more. I have until October. :jester:

Thanks for the input so far.

Dawn
