Question about my old man cat

My dear furbaby will be 17 in June. He is a healthy kitty. I have begun to notice that he is thinning out and becoming lean. He has lost one fang tooth. Is this just normal in a senior cat? He still snuggles and sleeps with me. He doesn't cry when you touch him so I know he isn't in any pain. He is still using his box regularly. I know his years are catching up with him but with the weight loss, is this just normal old cat age??

I think so. Just make sure you take him to the Vet once a year to make sure things look OK.

Awww, I'm so glad that your sweet cat has had such a long and happy life with you.

Does your vet do "senior" or "geriatric" workups? One of our dogs is in the geriatric range, and every year when they go for their shots, he'll do a special workup on Cookie that focuses on age-related issues along with regular bloodwork. She didn't need one this year because the results of last year's were so good, so he just wants me to let him know if we notice anything unusual about her behavior/activities.

Your best bet would be to take your sweetie in for a checkup if he hasn't had one lately, or at least call your vet and see what s/he recommends.
