Question about "My" Guide

When we first looked at DVC about a year ago I dealt with a "guide." We ultimately bought resale but to my knowledge have not been assigned a "personal" guide. Obviously, I know that each guide will service many members, but is a specific guide supposed to be assigned to you?

Is there actually just one person we should be directing questions to, etc? Perhaps we don't have a guide b/c we haven't had any reason to ask any questions from DVC. We did make a ressie with member services, but my impression was that any CM at MS could make a reservation and that was not "our" guide.

Any resale purchasers out there have "their" own guide. Do you only need to contact "your" guide to inquire about add-on's? Or does the guide serve some other purpose important to your membership?

Your Guide is essentially a sales person. This is the person you should contact for resales or if you have questions (but since you are on the Dis-Boards, you won't need that).

Many inidividuals have made lasting relationships with their guide. But you don't have to. The amount of contact is really up to you and can certainly be confined to when you want an add-on.

I purchased two contracts on the resale market. The only contact I had with DVC prior to purchase was to request a DVC video. They did assign me to a guide and her name is listed for me in my emails of the Member Clubhouse. If I decide to add on in the future with Disney directly, I will call my guide :earsgirl:

While visiting WDW in April '04 my husband and I took the timeshare tour. We ended up buying a resale later in the year. While dealing with the resale broker I asked about future contact with DVC. He told me the guide who gave us the original tour would be assigned to us. Sure enough material that comes from DVC has that guide's name on it. ::MinnieMo

Yes, even if you buy re-sale you will be assigned a guide. If you had any contact with one before you will be assigned that person. We bought from DVC the first time and re-sale the second time. We got our guide assignment the first time, but have never really had any contact with him. I guess if we decide to buy at the Contemporary we will call him

WOW.........

Guess I'm lucky... :flower:

I have been dealing with my guide for 2-3 years now. Unless its his day off..he returns my call the "same day". Remember...I'm not a perspective buyer..just an ole' DVCer looking for maybe a quick "official" answer.

As an example....Friday night I e-mailed him with a question (Guide's have "read only" access) from a friend, that I couldn't answer.
Well...within 10 min (@ 8PM) my phone rang...and it was him..cheerful as ever!!

He certainly exemplifies my concept of "Disney's Vision"! ::MickeyMo

Thanks for all of the responses. Laceemouse, you sound like us - particularly with the CR add-on, only I'm hoping it is at least one year away since we just bought resale.

My original guide left so I had a new guide assigned. She did call me once, when the new BWV points went on sale a couple of years ago. Ironically, she left me a VM at work when I was at WDW! I didn't call her back because I wasn't interested but she did call me back a couple weeks later. She tried her best to twist my arm into buying new points, but I resisted. I get sales cards in the mail with her name on it every once in awhile. The last time was about a week after my trip last month, the card said call me to find out how to make your vacations better (buy more points....).
