Question about my flights?

I have found us a flight to go home, on Delta that leaves Orlando then lands in Cincinnati then goes to Columbus. Cincinnati and Columbus are about the same distance to where I live. My question is can I get off at Cincinnati and not fly on to Columbus? This would be only on the way home. So I would just be cutting out my very last flight from Cincinnati to Columbus. Does anyone know or has anyone did this? I would get home a couple of hours earlier if I did that.

The reason Im not flying directly out of Cincinnati is because the price is about 200. more then flying out of Columbus.

Will you have checked luggage? If so, you will have a problem. The airline will check your luggage all the way through to Columbus (to match your ticket). Based on the number of changes in allowable carry-ons lately, I'd be hesitant to plan a trip to Orlando with just carry on luggage.

We went to Panama City Florida and only took a carry on bag each and it worked out fine, we plan on just having a carry on bag each.

If all you have is carry on, I see no reason why you can't get off in Cincinnati. That is just my opinion, though. Given all of the current security concerns, I'd recommend that you tell the gate agent in Cincinnati that you have decided not to fly the last leg. If they notice there are two less passengers (and I'm betting that they will), it could delay the take off while they figure out what happened. Airline (and fellow passengers) would probably NOT be very happy with you in that case.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks Carol, I was thinking the same thing about what would happen if we didnt tell them it would best to tell them especially if someone is wanting to fly standby and looking for seats on that flight.:)

If you leave from Columbus but return to Cincinnati you ahve an open jaw ticket which is perfectly valid if you pay the published fare for it.

If, on the other hand your round trip from Columbus is cheapest you might as well keep it that way. They reserve the right to charge you the difference in fare if you don't finish the journey. If they have to re-open the baggage hold to get out your checked baggage they are very likely to charge you this.

If the plane is oversold and/or there are standbys and you volunteer for no compensation there is a good chance they will let you off in Cincy.

But if the last leg Cincy. to Col. is badly delayed or cancelled you may not only refuse to fly that leg but also get a refund You will have to make arrangements to retrieve checked baggage.
