Hey guys, new to the board. Heres my situation.

I'm currently a student at the College of Staten Island but I was hoping to transfer to Baruch College next semester. I also applied to the Disney College Program for next semester. The website makes it clear that the Disney CP cannot be done during my first semester of school. However, this wouldn't be my first semester of school, just my first semester at a NEW school. Does anyone know what their policy on this is?

if you have credits i believe its just trasfering. and if you applied while your enrolled it shouldnt be too big of a deal. but i would call your recuiter to just clearify. I also transfered out of csi ahaha, I go to city college now!

on a side note, i transfered out a year ago and they havent given me the credits of my last semeter there yet. so try to make sure allllll your credits transfer. and good luck!

Wow. Small world! Thanks for your help!

Were you in CSI when you did the CP? That is, if you did it yet.

I'm thinking of either

A) Staying at CSI for the next semester and doing the Disney CP while enrolled there. Then, transfer to Baruch for Fall 2010.

OR

B) Transfer to Baruch for next semester and attempt to do the Disney CP for Fall 2010. Only problem is, if I get accepted to the CP for next semester, its going to be really tough for me to decline it...

Any input you guys have on my decision would be greatly appreciated. Note that I'm a second year Journalism major.

i would say just to stay with csi for next semester and try to do the CP, you'll probably confuse Baruch if you transfer there and dive right into an out of state internship

I'd agree with doing that too. Baruch may have other requirements as well, they may require you to be on campus your first and last semesters (my school has something like that). Also if you have any problems with credits or other things transferring, you may want to be readily on campus to handle those instead of through e-mail or over the phone.

If you don't want to wait to do the CP, I would stay at your school now and stick it out, especially if they will give you internship credit. If you can wait another year (I know it would be hard), go to Baruch in the spring if possible and apply for the fall. At least then you would be set with the school!

i have yet to do CP, but if you really want to go to cp in spring, id say just stick with csi then transfer, the classes are easier and they usually give more credits then other cunys. but if your willing to wait and really want to leave csi (which was why i couldnt wait to transfer) then waiting until fall 2010 is a better idea and going to baruch in spring would be a good idea. either way its up to you. i just wouldnt go straight into cp while being in a new school. ( did i word that right? im not on very much sleep.)

This would probably make the most sense, from what I can tell.

Many CPers end up transferring to various Colleges and Universities in Central Florida after their CPs are over. They just apply during the CP, and make the CP their last semester at their current school.

this is exactly what i am doing. I am currently enrolled in a community college and i will be transferring to another school soon but i will try to do the cp in the spring while i am currently enrolled in the community college and then i can apply to another school while i am at the cp

This is probably a dumb question so I won't make a whole new topic about it (that and the fact that I make a new topic everyday) but I know you have to be a student when you apply, but do you have to be a student as you participate? Since I plan on transferring out of my current school, would disney mind if I'm not enrolled in a school as I participate?

As long as you are enrolled in school when you apply- you can do the program. :thumbsup2
A lot of people apply during their last semester of college so they graduate and then do the program- so you don't have to be enrolled anywhere during your program :)

I have a similar question. I'm also at a community college, and I have been planning on transferring to a university next fall. However, if that university would grant me credit would it make more sense to just go ahead and transfer- since that's where I'll be getting my degree from? I'm assuming internship credit doesn't transfer, and I really have no reason to want credit from my community college other than so I can remain part/full time without having to take online classes (which is probably a good idea). Any advice?

well i am going to a community college (CCAC) and transfering to pitt (hopefully) and i am doing it at CCAC. I dont know if i will need internship credits (I probobly will) but i am still not sure. now i know that ccac lets you do the program with no problems but i am not too sure about how Pitt lets you do it so i wanted to do it now so i know that i can do it because i am not doing it for the credits i am doing it because of how much i love disney and that this is like my dream. Every school is different and i understand that so this may not help you. you can do it again if you want if the credits dont transfer. Oh also i have heard that some schools make you pay some tuition, not full, but some and i know at CCAC that you dont need to pay anythiing and at Pitt i dont know if i do (but dont quote me on this because i am not to sure if this is true) So this is a bit of a rambling but i hope it helps (it is late for me even though it only 11:30 I have had a long day)

So lala, your staying enrolled in the community college while you participate in the disney program? If so, why? And did I understand correctly, you don't have to pay tuition at the school during the semester that you doing the disney cp?

There was a joke when I was down there, probably still around, with former CP's who transferred to UCF instead of going back home to finish school. They refer to it as "U Can't Finish".

to be completly honest i am not sure if i have to pay to stay enrolled but if i co it will be a fraction of the cost of what i would if i were at a big university. And yes i believe i am staying enrolled in community so that when i go to transfer it will be easier but again I really need to talk to an adviser, however they never know what they are talking about. I already tried to talk to someone about it here and basically she could give me no information at all about what i was suppost to do and if i had to stay enrolled or not. The whole tuition thing is still a little sketchy. So if i get an acceptance later i am going to push for more information about it but the poeple who work at my school are hopeless.
Dont you just love that!
:confused3:confused3:confused3 (This is all i ever get from them)

They also told me there was going to be a campus rep for me to talk to but she wouldnt know who that was going to be for at least three weeks so i still have another week to wait before she will know who it is going to be.
