You would have to wait until seven months out to use your SSR points to book VGF. You could only use your VGF points to book VGF at 11 months out.

Have you considered booking a split stay between your home resorts?

You would have to wait until 7 months to book at VGF with SSR points and in my opion you will likely have lots of split stays and not be able to use those points for the VGF on a regular basis. I know this because I was trying this for July (at a low time for DVC and struggled using my BLT points to book a VGF room). You will have an easier time trying for a 1 bedroom or a dedicated 2 bedroom than a studio or lock-off however. If you really want VGF for most vacations then buy all your points there. If you are fine staying at SSR for many of your vacations or doing split stays then your idea is fine.

We own at BLT and Saratoga Springs and at the 7month mark, combined the points to book a June 3rd 2014 vacation at BWV and GFV (5 days at each)!!
