I wasn't sure if this goes in this thread but it is about travel ... :confused3

I have been prone to motion sickness in the car and the only time I flew years ago, my sister gave me half a dranamine which kept me so drowsy, I couldn't hardly function for awhile. Our flights are 1 hr long and then 1 1/2 long.

What do you experienced flyers recommend?

I have flown with nothing, and I was the kid that always puked on the bus. After coming close landing in Nashville, I now where a patch available by prescription called trans-scopalamine. It is good for 3 days so I can use it for the tea cups too!!!
When I forgot to refill my prescription I used an OTC called something like Bonimine, or Bonine something like that. The active ingredient is antivert. It worked, but I was just a little nauseous, but nothing too bad.
Don't like Dramamine either, but I think it does come in a non drowsy formula now.

I usually take Dramamine for flights, as I like to try to sleep some of my trip away. You can take Bonine or non-drowsy Dramamine and you shouldn't have any problem with excessive drowsiness. I've been through some pretty turbulent flights, but my stomach stayed just fine!

I feel for ya. I have gotten motion sick since I was a kid. Try the non drowsy Dramamine. It lasts 12 hours. Don't take a chance by not taking anything (my opinion) It's not fun throwing up in a small bag :sad2: with strangers staring at you.

Meclazine is great...non drowsy, available over the counter (under the brand name of Bonine, or other store brands)...1 pill lasts 24 hours...very few reactions/side effects. You can get the generic veru cheap at places like Sam's pharmacies.

I am the original car sick/sea sick quenn (don't usually have problems flying though)...so I always use it if I am going to be riding or sailing for long.

If you are reluctant to use medication the SeaBands that apply accupressure to the wrist can also be quite effective...available at WalMart, Walgreens and most drug stores.

I am not a big fan of the scopalamine patch suggested by a previous poster. They make me very drowsy and about 35% of the people that use them have significant side effects that require stopping their use.

I'm taking my first cruise next year, and I am prone to sea sickness. I plan on using Bonine and the sea bands. I figure the more prevention, the better. :flower:

Before I discovered Bonine, I would be so dizzy getting off a flight, that I would need to lay down as soon as we reached our hotel. I only take 1 (the package says to take 2), and it makes me relaxed, but still able to function. What a difference one little pill can make!
