How are these going to work? I know it's now $4.85, so we will be paying the new rate in May 2009 when Kidani opens and we get our points, right (as opposed to the $4.71 that was originally quoted)? Also, since we can only use our points starting in May, how do the first year's maintenance fees work? Do we still pay the entire MF even though it starts in May, or is it a lesser amount that's prorated for the months left in 2009?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Maintenance fees for contracts purchased directly thru DVC have always been prorated based on the purchase date. If your effective date is May 1, 2009 you will pay about 2/3 of the $4.85 amount ($3.23 per point).

When we did our add-on for AKV we were told no dues until May 2009, so I'm assuming since we pay monthly no dues for this add-on will be deducted from our account until May 2009. Is this correct?

That is correct. Our home resort is AKV and were told that we would not be paying any dues until May 1st. We are paying monthly and were told it would not be deducted until that time.

It's possible your first deduction won't be until June. That's how it worked when I purchased AKV (Jambo House). My dues were pro-rated starting Oct 1st so I owed approximately 3 months worth of dues for that year (92 days worth to be precise). They deducted it in two payments, one in Nov and the other in Dec. So while you will owe approximately 8 months worth of dues, you may end up paying it in 7 installments starting in June.
