Hi everyone!

I called member services today to inquire about the types of meal plans. I also asked whether a person could buy a certain number of meal plan days if you didn't want the meal plan for the whole trip. I was told by numerous people that in past years you could buy a meal plan for three days(for example), even if your trip was seven days. MS told me that either you buy for the number of days that your reservation is for or you cannot buy the meal plan at all. I am very upset about this. When did this come into effect? We were planning to stay for 10 days in march and buy the meal plan for 5 or 6 days and stretch it out.
thanks for your help.

You had been told incorrectly. The DDP has always been LOS for all in the party. For cash customers there have been minimum days and other requirments that do not apply to DVC. You can get a different reservation, unit type or resort and move then only get the DDP for part of your stay that way.

As Dean said, it's always been length of reservation, entire party, both DVC and non-DVC. The only way around it is to have split reservations. I've always said it's the way Disney makes a profit on it, otherwise people would "pick and choose" (as you had planned on doing), killing the profit margin.

Yep, it's always been "all" or "nothing". We've used the dining plan on the last 6 or 7 of our trips. We often do split stays, & get the dp for the 2nd part of our stay.

So this means the guests I plan on bringing have to buy the dinning plan too?

Yes, even if they stayed for 1 day of many. You could get a separate room, even get a 1 BR and studio instead of a 2 BR.
