Question about ME

We are going to the World in July, and we have signed up for ME even though we are renting a car. Basically, I just signed up so they will handle the bags. My question is, do we still need to check in at the ME desk so they know how to route the bags. I'm assuming we can just check in and not get on the bus. The other option would be to send DW, DD, and DM on the bus and I'll get the car. What do you recommend?

You can not do this. Someone must ride the bus with the bags. What we are doing is taking ME to the resort, BCV. We arrive late, around 7:30 pm. The next day, we are picking up the rental car from National at the Dolphin.

On our return day, we are just driving back to the airport. We will use Resort Airline check in to get our boarding passes and send the luggage on to Jet Blue. And, to be honest, it was over $150 cheaper to do it this way. Of course, we don't go until July 30th, so I keep playing with dates and hope I can get an even better deal.

I don't know how you rented the car, but it is something to consider. There is also a car rental place at the Car Care Center and I believe they will send a shuttle for you.

Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestion, though I don't think this will work in our case. We are heading down and staying at OKW in order to attend a conference at CSR. Being that we need to arrive at CSR by 8:00 AM, I need to get the car the day we arrive and since we are arriving in the evening, I believe all the WDW pickup locations will be closed. Then after 3 nights at WDW, we will be heading down to VBR for 3 nights, before returning the car to the airport. I actually didn't get too bad of a deal through Costco. A full size car for 7 days for $244. That's $35/day, which I think is pretty reasonable. Please let me know if you think I can do better.

Thank you LisaS! This is how I figured it worked, that the luggage service and the bus service are not "really" related.
I think that thread does a good job of covering all the pros and cons. It sounds like it can be done but there could be an issue if your luggage doesn't make it to MCO.

Thanks, I'll read through the whole thread, but my question is wouldn't you have the same problem if you used DME normally?

Goofy4tink talks about it in the very first post in that thread. The Transportation board regulars are more familiar with the issue than I am so it's best to read that thread and post any questions there where you can get answers from the experts!
