Hi...long time lurker here, so this is my first post.

We are going to Universal next year for our 1st Anniversary (April 20th till April 25th). Right now Mastercard has the promo where you get one night free if you stay 4. It doesnt work when I enter it online, and I called Universal and they had no info on that promo for those dates. Does anyone know what the deal is with this? Also, if I book through AAA, am I still eligable for that promotion? I am looking for the best deal possible at the Portofino Hotel so I can make this a special first anniversary for my wife. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I also would like to know. I tried it the other night and it did not work for me . I figured maybe since I am not looking for dates until next Oct that it was to far out :confused3

:welcome: Welcome our new people!

I believe the Master Card deal only runs until Jan. 1st.... If you go thru the steps like you were going to actually purchase it, the "details" will reveal (in the fine print) that it's until Jan. 1st and blackout dates DO apply.... That is most likely the problem.

The good news is, they often run these deals, but come in spurts and may not be offered until closer to your time.

In the meantime, you can book your room at any rate, and always change it later on down the road. You have 5 days prior to your arrival to cancel without penalty...so, you really have nothing to lose!

Hehe...thats my rate :)

I'm hoping to get it down some if I can. i called the hotel to book and they were real friendly and encouraged me to check back a few times to look for better rates.

Right...that was YOU! :thumbsup2

Usually closer to your travel dates, they release "offers"..... MasterCard deal, SuperSaver, etc..... You always have to keep an eye on the offers, sometimes they are better, sometimes not..... :)

Yes, the master card "extra free night" thingy is only through this year, and so is the master card "booklet of savings" if you buy your tix w/ master card, I think (or at least I know they expire well in advance of our June trip, anyway....)

With ressies in June @ PBH currently at full price, I feel your pain. I couldn't even get INTO PBH a month or so ago - persistence paid off, but with no decrease in rates. Couldn't get a Loews gold upgrade... no AAA rates... no APH rates... no Mastercard perk for our 5 nts... wahhhh. :sad1: But as frustrating as it is to see these "bargains" of which you can't partake, I try to think of it this way - I book now, and when the rates DO go down (either with AAA or via Mastercard or APH or whatever) the "one night deposit" I pay for PBH at full price will later pay for much more than just one night, LOL... sort of like a "pay ahead" xmas club plan, haha. And I'll still have your rooms at a great hotel.

So chin up, make that ressie, and just keep on checkin'.....

Well, I found you cant double dip on discounts, so it was either free night, or AAA rate. AAA rate ends up being cheaper in the end.

I'm just hoping they do something special for us since it will be our anniversary. The person asked if it was for an event and I told her it was our 1st year anniversary. We should hopefully get the room upgrade to Bay with the Loews card, but I'm secretly hoping for more. :)

So, I'm confused :confused3 You are going June '08 and have rack rate?? AAA rates are out, I have them for June :confused3

It's okay to keep mentioning it and hope for something nice.... Maybe you could email the manager or rooms manager just before you go and let them know you are trying to do something special for your 1st anniversary..... heck, imho, an 'anniversary' alone is nice, but your FIRST should definately get you some kind of attention....

Yep - remember I'm the one that posted before about the "strange" circumstances around my week of choice (June 2 -7th). From Augusts to about mid-October, I couldn't even GET a ressie - ANY ressie - at PBH for that week. Then, once I got the room, there were no "perks" or discounts, and no Loews Gold grade upgrade available either - despite teh fact that others posted being able to get it a week or 2 after my week of choice. Even now, if you go to the US/IOA resort web site, the week of June 7-14 shows all sorts of promos and room types - but the list reduces to like, 2 choices of room only for the week before that!! Go figure. I have yet to find anyone who can explain it to me - WHAT is the fascination with that week at US/IOA?!?!?!?

So every 2-3 weeks I call and see if teh AAA codes are out. As of late Oct I could NOT get AAA rates at PBH for my chosen dates. I am just about ready to switch my dates, frankly. We are supposed to stay @ US/IOA first for 5 nights, then move to BCV over at WDW for 7 more nights. I am verrrry close to switching the order on that and staying at BCV first, then moving to PBH for the last 5 nights of our trip. IT would save us money at this point, and also - it does make one wonder WHY it's so crowded then. I'm not a big fan of crowds, frankly. I don't want to be there during some crazy convention week...
