Question about Marrakesh

I recently found out that I am diabetic. So far I don't need medication or insulin to control it, just a careful diet and exercise. Basically I eat no simple carbs and it keeps my blood sugar in check. My friend and I are interested in eating at Restaurant Marrakesh but I'm concerned about the carbs. I see on the menu that everything is served with rice mixed with vegetables. I know I can simply choose not to eat the rice and that's fine. My question is without the rice as a filler will there be enough food to fill me up? :confused3 I'd hate to use a TS credit only to find myself hungry an hour or two later.

So, what are the non-rice portions like?
Can I request mixed veggies without the rice?

TIA!

Disney TS restaurants are very good about accommodating dietary needs as they arise (except, maybe, for things like: "Le Cellier, I need two of those mushroom filets on my plate instead of one because of acute protein deficiency..."). Just put on the ADR a note that you are a diabetic and ask to speak to a/the chef when you get there to run down your restrictions. You should be able to work out a way to get a good meal without spiking your blood sugar through the roof this way. Just let them know what you require.

I found the portions were on the large size here so I don't think you'll have a big issue. My other half had the lamb last time and it was huge. Definately ask for mixed veg only and put it on your reservation!

Thank you! I think I'm going to give it a try. :thumbsup2

During this journey of figuring out what your body can and cannot tolerate (something hubby went through a couple years ago...he is doing things the way you are), you might see if couscous causes the same responses that white rice would.

DH can tolerate couscous like he tolerates brown rice...MUCH better than he tolerates white rice. :)

So if you find that you can eat couscous without a problem, you could ask them to substitute that for rice.
