I thought i read somewhere, please correct me if wrong. that when you check in ur luggages (at the hotel through their service) and then take magical express, you can only give them one luggage per person? is this correct? if additional, we'd have to check them in ourselves at airport? i am taking southwest for 1st time and can get take 2 luggages per person - so i was planning to take 3 between me and my husband. I do not want to go through check in at airport, i just wanna give them to the people outside hotel. is this possible?

Yes. You can check all your luggage at the RAC desk at your Disney Resort.

Two caveats...
1) You are subject to whatever baggage limitations placed on you by your participating airline (if the airline only allows you to check one bag, that's all you'd get at the RAC desk)
2) There have been a few reports that folks find out they're not allowed to check bags at the RAC desk and must transport their bags themselves to MCO. There has been no reason discovered (that I've heard) to explain this. This is the exception by far and not the norm.

Not all airlines are available for resort check in. We fly Spirit. DME transports the bags but we have to check our bags at MCO ourselves.

When we fly SWA I ask for an additional luggage tag when I book Magical Express. If the airline allows a second bag then I'll take it to pack snacks etc.

The OP was referring to leaving Disney and checking bags at the hotel.

You are confusing DME to the resort from the airport with departure from the resort.
DME sends one luggage tag, per person on the reservation, for arrival into MCO, and transport to the resort. If you need more tags, they will send them to you.
When it's time to leave the reset, you go to the RAC counter that day, check your bags, as many as you have (and pay any checked bag fees here), get your boarding pass issued and off you go.

Yes you will be able to check more that one piece of luggage with RAC if you are flying SWA. Two bags per person for free. We've done it with no issues.

thanks all! i did call magical express to get more tags

what's ur thoughts on this.... so i probably dont need 3 luggages for way down, but way home it's always harder to fit everything cause of mickey items i buy,,, how does a duffel bag hold up with the airlines? thinking of packing a duffel bag in my suitecase and then having 3 bags on way home 2 luggage and 1 duffel bag checked in with airlines..

(plus my carry ons)

We've done that, no problem. One suggestion though is to take the shoulder strap off the bag (hopefully it just clips on) and put it IN the bag before your check it. That just eliminates a potential "snag" point.

I prefer to pack lightly in more bags than I NEED at the beginning, rather than use a soft-sided bag. So take 4, don't pack each one tightly, then pack your souvenirs through the bags on your way home.

All so easy to talk about if flying SW or if you have "status" with an airline that gets you checked bags for free, LOL.... (DH gets 3 per person on the reservation (and even for us when we travel separately but on his miles) and they can go to 75 lbs when flying United...we can barely pick up the bag when it's 49 lbs, I cannot imagine a 75 lb bag!)

The yellow DME tags only go on the luggage on the way *to* the resort, not on the way home.
