Question about Longer Waitlist

Hi everyone! My in-laws have DVC but have never had to waitlist nights so don't know the process. We usually book 10 or 7 months out, this trip we booked at 4.5 months out! Quickest trip we have ever planned. So I know that if we put a waitlist in, they will automatically cancel our current reservation if the waitlist comes through, which is good. Is there anything else important I need to know about the process? We are currently booked at two resorts as the only resort with availability for our entire stay was SSR and we really didn't want to stay there for the whole trip. We have 3 nights at AKL and 3 nights at SSR. What are our chances of getting a waitlist room at one resort for the full 6 nights? Am I dreaming?? It is over Labor Day weekend (9/2 - 9/8). We are totally fine with staying at the two resorts, and we have reservations for the whole length of stay, so it's not critical to get the waitlist, but not having to move would be nicer. Are my chances slim to none? Thanks in advance!

6 nights for a single waitlist seems like it would be tough to get an exact match. You might be better off doing 2, 3 day waitlists at the same resort to cancel out your current split stays. Still probably a long shot, and might end up with just a different version of the split stay.

I have wait lists in for Labor Day weekend as well. They are split between two memberships and are 1-2 nights each. The chances of a 1-night stay coming thru are much greater than all 4 nights filling at once.

Maybe I will just try to waitlist the last three nights that we have at SSR. Sounds like that might be a better option. Thank you both!

Philsfan77 and Marionnette - Update as of this morning. I logged on to the DVC website to check (stalk) rooms. Much to my surprise and delight - there was a 1 Bedroom at Boardwalk (where we wanted to stay initially) for our entire length of stay! I was shocked and booked it as fast as my fingers could type. lol So miracles do happen (ok maybe not a miracle, but good luck!). Good luck to you Marionnette on your waitlist!

You should also use the DVC app, it helps watch. I had a waitlist and the app saw a reservation available for me and I grabbed it yesterday. It can look at all dvc in your room category, not just the two you can waitlist and it sent me a text
