I just signed up on-line to enrol. I have a deluxe room booked already, but noticed on their website it said something about an upgrade to business class at time of registration. But I've also seen other people talk about a $35 upgrade. Can someone please explain the difference? What exactly is "business class"? My ressies are for HRH but am seriously considering switching to PBH.

E.Jane,

You didnt mention your dates but I have found when researching the 3 different Loews hotels HRH kept coming out most expensive. I was able to get Portofino for 126.75 a night and HRH was 199.00. That rate is for a bayview. December 12-16

The many times I have stayed at these properties I always asked about the Business class upgrade. I am still unclear what that exactly pertains to regarding their Orlando properties. However we usually go off peak and have always been given an upgrade when checking in and asking. (no fee) One trip to Portofino we were offered a flat one time rate of $35 and were upgraded to a hospitality suite. That trip we had booked a garden view entertainment rate of $150 a night and they still honored the Loews Card and its amenities.

Another trip in the height of the summer season we were given an upgrade to a deluxe room at HRH .

I have never faxed the hotel ahead of time but do always ask at check in. I think its the luck of the draw and has everything to do with the person checking you in.

It seems that Hard Rock's reputation is keeping that hotel busy! The better deals are found at the other 2. The nice thing is that you can stay at one and since they are so close to each other visit and even dine and use the pools at the others.

Reading the many posts from Loews First members and entitlements and what their experience was is so different ends of the spectrum. For what it is worth I have always booked directly with Loews and have always received the perks.

I have also read that some have gotten the next best class of rooms above the one they booked when using loews card to upgrade. In my case that hasnt been the rule.

Why are you having 2nd thoughts on Hard Rock? I'm just curious:)

Good Luck with deciding...We enjoyed both hotels very much. Portofino is still my favorite:)

Fan2CSkr - we are travelling the first week of April - spring break. Ack!! We've usually travelled in January, when the crowds are non-existant, so my main reason for wanting to switch to PBH is strictly crowd related. I don't like the idea that there is only one pool at HRH. We plan on spending the afternoons by the pool (something we've never been able to do in January because the weather was too cold). I'm nervous that it will be overrun with kids and there are no quiet pools to escape to. The PBH deluxe rooms also have balconies. I would like to be able to at least escape to my room and watch the world go by should I choose. And to be honest, we've stayed twice at a Disney moderate resort - I just wanted to stay somewhere "extra special" this trip.

From what you replied, I guess my best bet is to wait until check in and simply ask. After all, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?! ;)

I enjoy the HRH much more than the PBH. The main reason is the proximity to the parks. It is just a five minute walk from the HRH. There is only one pool at the HRH and it has two hot tubs. It does get crowded there but it is a fun place. I would suggest calling far in advance and speaking to recreation. You can reserve a cabana by the pool and you can request half days from (I think) 3 to 10 p.m. for about $40 per day. The cabanas are great, have a nice table, refrigerator, television, two reserved lounge chairs, fruit bowl, ceiling fan, phone and great service. We always try and do that. We have lunch in the cabana, etc. You can close the curtains to change, nap, etc. If you have kids I would try and grab cabana 8, 9 or 10. The lower numbers are more removed from the pool.

Last April I also had a deluxe room reserved at HRH, but after hearing about the $35 upgrade to a kidsuite I asked about it at check-in. Nothing was available when I checked in at 9 am, but we called back from the park around noon and snagged one. It was great. We loved this hotel, and its pool and can't wait to stay again this year.
