Question about late check-in

Just see what happens because you never know and as I said before, if you get a room you don't like just call the front desk immediately and ask to be changed in the morning. What happened with my DH when he asked to be changed is they told him that night that he would receive a silent voicemail to confirm his request for a room change. When he woke up the phone was blinking and sure enough, it was the front desk asking that if he still wanted to be moved that he had to call them before 10:00 a.m. which of course he did. His second room was alot nicer but very far way but even then it wasn't ready until around 4:00 but it was better than what he had. They did ask that he bring his luggage down with him in the morning so they held it in the back for him.

My concern is this: does checking in late basically mean you get a crappy view/room/etc? We checked in at 8am last time and were VERY pleased with our room - upper floor of building 38 (when it was ready that afternoon, of course).

We always check in after 8:pm......sometimes as late at 11:pm. We always get the floor and building I requested.

We checked in very late one year at WL about 11:30. We booked astandard woods view and were upgraded to a main courtyard view. :cheer2:

Thank you everyone for all the responses :) I think I will do this: fax in my request and then after check-in, we'll check out the room and if it's not what we're expecting, I'll call and ask to be moved in the AM as suggested. Thanks DIS family :goodvibes

That's exactly what you should do. You never know though, it could all work out but once you get in your room and you are not happy just request the move first thing. Just remember, in case that is what occurs don't unpack.

We have checked in very early 2 times, once our room was ready, once it was not. It was after 4pm at the CR and all we asked for was a king bed and had paid for one. We did end up getting it though. We did ask to be changed from the 2 queens. We were on our Honeymoon. We checked in at noon and got an awesome view the last time at WL, and checked in once at 4PM. THat is around the time we wil check in this time. We shall see. My biggest fear is we are going to get down there and AKL will be full and we will be transfered.

I think that is so unfair that if your paying to stay at a particular hotel and you checkin and it's full that they put you in another one. They know you are arriving and I can see getting a crappy room but moving you to another hotel???

ITA! :thumbsup2

How early do those of you coming from the West coast get there? We're gonna lose 3 hrs in our travel time to WDW, and I'm certain we'll arrive at the earliest in the late afternoon!

Be sure to call the resort in the morning before you leave home. Speak to a front desk manager and remind him or her very sweetly and politely of your late arrival :sunny:

My DH did do that and still got a crappy room:confused:

Our flight arrives at 1215 AM into Orlando, and I have no idea how when we will get to our resort (POP), I figured around 2AM at the latest. My TA told me not to use Magic Express tags, and just to bring our luggage with us, due to late check in. Now, I am worried about our rooms! We need connecting rooms because we are a family of 6!

If you are 2 adults with 4 children then you will get the connecting rooms. We always do and we always arrive late.

I wouldn't worry too much either because they know you are a large party and need the connecting rooms. Just call the day before to confirm your arrival and remind them again about the connecting rooms.
