Question about lanyards...

On our last trip we all got lanyards. I still have them. But, we had a fiasco where one of the plastic pockets came loose and a key was lost. When we had it replaced at the hotel, they recommended that we punch a hole in the room key and just clip that to the lanyard, and not the pouches. Worked out great so we threw the remaining pouches away.
I was planning on doing the same thing on our trip next summer, until I read about the new photo id's that are necessary for Express Pass access. I've gotten the impression that these might be paper? So, do I need lanyards with the pouches now??
If so, are there better pouches than others. It seems like some of ours had a plastic clip and others had a metal one. I'm thinking it was a lanyard with a plastic clip that caused the problem last time, but it's been a few years.
Thanks for any information.

Yes, the on site express passes are paper now so you will want a plastic pouch to keep it from getting wet. The metal clips are the only ones I've seen recently and work well.

Thank You both!

If you don't mind, I thought of one more question: do they just glance at the EP or scan them? (I would swear they scanned them on our last trip.)

What I'm getting at is: can you keep them in the pouch or will we have to take them out for every ride? It would be nice if we don't have to take them out.

Thanks Again!

They scan them. The pouches have a transparent side and a slightly frosted side. We just put our AP on the frosted side (we take it out to go thru the gates) then put the express pass on the transparent side. The express pass will scan easy thru the transparent side. We also put our room key in the middle of the 2.

Thanks! :thumbsup2 Looks like we're all set and for just $6!
