Does anyone know if you have to register to have your kids involved in the ladybug release and butterfly release during May?

I would like to know this too as my niece and cousin definitely want to do this. Also, do you mean the one at Epcot for the Flower and Garden Festival, or the resort release? I'm just wondering if there is a benefit to one over the other.

Hey, MRS AR, we'll be at the GF the same time as you--look for the group of 3 men, 10 women, and 4 little girls (3 mos, 6 mos, 2.5 years, and 6 years)!

No registration required. Just show up at the times listed in your F&G schedule, and you're part of the fun!

Thanks for the tip. It just sounds like great fun for teens as well as kids.

F&G Schedule? Where does one acquire such a thing? Times are not specified on the WDW website. We would like to partake in the ladybug/butterfly release just not sure of when it is and exactly where to go. Thanks.

There's a nice F&G booklet you get when you arrive at Epcot. It lists the Butterfly Release daily at 11am at East Future World, and the Ladybug Release daily at 12:30 and 2:30pm, also at East Future World.

When we were there earlier this month, my DD and I just stumbled upon the ladybug release in FW at Epcot. It was a highlight to her day. I couldn't have planned as well!

We got to the Lady bug release just as it was starting last year and even though my DD (16) didn't want to do it, I did. So I got to release some ladybugs. I opened the box and before I could give it a little shake, they started climbing up my arm. :goodvibes

I had my DD try and take a picture, but somewhere along the way, something happened to it.

We recently made a rash decision to go over Memorial day weekend this year to see the F&G festival. I plan on being there for both the butterfly release and the ladybug release again. We missed the butterfly release last year.

Can anyone describe to me how big an event the ladybug/butterfly releases are? As in, are they letting go a small number (like 20) or lots (like a few hundred). My DD6 and DD9 would probably love the bug releases, and we'll be at DW June 3-8, but my current touring plan puts us at Epcot only on the second half of a day during the flower show. I'm wondering if it's worth me changing my plan (at a cost of going to Epcot on a day that I think might be a bit more crowded than my current plan).

We visited last week and went to the butterfly release. There was fair sized crowd and it was fun to watch. Two girls were chosen to “release” the butterflys by asking for anyone celebrating a birthday. We intend to try the ladybug release next visit, which has more opportunities. I would estimate that 50 people are around, with about 25 kids
