Question about kids under 10 and fingerprints.

Were you at WDW or DL?

Disney World. Never been to Disneyland in my life.

Were you at DisneyLAND??

Disney World. Never been to Disneyland in my life.

it REALLY isn't that big of a deal -

Thanks, I'll make the final decision on that for my family.

so if you went there in 2015, you would have done it then (or been asked to show photo ID).

Then it was a photo ID. I would never agree to scan a finger print.

you definitely did it OR a photo ID.

None of us were fingerprint scanned at any park in 2015. Really not sure how else to put it.

Well of course I need to research more. I literally JUST read the info here when posting and commented " If they require us to do that " If. IF. That implies I need to do more research. Maybe reading things the first time will make you feel a little better.

And yes, I will be looking into it more and if they require fingerprints, I will absolutely cancel my trip. Disney isn't the only place on earth to vacation. Good Lord.

We went twice in 2015 (September and November) and both times a biometric scan of our finger was used to enter the park with our tickets. This isn’t new at all.

We’ve taken our kids twice, the oldest was 4 and 5, youngest under 3. We weren’t given the option to use our fingerprint for our son, they made us use his and it was a huge pain getting it to work every day when entering a park. We had to rescan it multiple times.
I don’t see it being an issue for you since the AP is assigned to your granddaughter, but they might make you scan her print this time around.
This is so odd to me. We've taken multiple 3,4,5 and this year my niece was 7 and whoever the parent is always scans their own finger and no one has ever said anything to us about it. I'm just curious, did you ask if they had to scan theirs and then they said yes? I never asked, I just always automatically scanned mine and then scanned hers with my other finger, so I'm wondering if it's an issue of being "too nice," and asking or did you try scanning it and they stopped you? Just seems so odd and honestly I'd be kinda annoyed if they made me take mine out of the stroller or what about when they're sleeping?

We were told to scan our son, and no one ever told us we could do our finger for him, so we never even thought to ask. Our daughter was under 3 so we didn’t have to do anything for her to my knowledge. Our son was never in a stroller or sleeping, so no big deal there. But it was really difficult to scan his little finger and we did have issues at ever park. Nothing mayor, but we’d either have to scan it multiple times, or have someone come over and reset it.

My kids always did the fingerscan, no problem. Why would you have a sleeping kid at park entry anyways?

Really??? Why would we not? Sometimes kids get tired and sleep in a stroller??? Our world does not revolve around 1 child. We have other kids and generally travel with extended family and are perfectly ok with little ones napping in their stroller when they're tired. We've also had multiple occasions where they're awake at the bus stop, but fall asleep by the time we get there. When's the last time you had little ones with you at Disney? - Are you telling me that you'd decide to turn around and go back in that type of situation? That seems bizarre to me, but I suppose everyone is different. I've seen and myself have had sleeping kids, whether for an early morning or coming back in the afternoon, at the turnstiles. Never thought twice about it. I've also never had a problem wearing and always scanning my own fingerprint at entry, but I've never stopped to ask; I've just always done it and again never thought much about it - the idea I guess now that I think about it came from when my sister had a little one and a CM stopped her st the turnstiles and asked if she'd always be with her, to which she replied yes and the CM is actually the one that told her to do it that way, so it must not be that uncommon, although that particular incident was a few years ago now.

They may have you take your child out of the stroller, so they can look thru it at bag check. I have seen some security guards be very thorough. So it is something to be prepared for.

We always make sure the kids are well rested at night and ready to go for the morning. Never had a kid fall asleep in the morning on our way to the parks. To me, that would signify that we weren't letting the kid get enough rest. We have no need to have an exhausted child in the parks. Yes, our 2 1/2 year old took a nap in the stroller while we were in the parks, but not when we were entering in the morning, or when we would come back after a break. We waited until everyone was awake and well rested. If my kid was falling asleep on the way to the parks, yes, I'd go back and let that child get some more rest.

are you sure? They can tell where you are with 10 feet at anytime.
Your ticket as magic bands have an rfid chip in it that’s how some rides know your name and if you have photopass photos end up attached to your account. Also if you have the app they are tracking you through your phone. Just like target knows when I am near their store and pop up my cartwheel card onto my phone screen or AMC knows when I drive by the movie theater. Disney also has an extensive camera system in most areas of the park. That is how they know where you are.

Today,it's needed

But you’re worried about a future get scan that is not a true finger print and is not stored but it’s needed for stores to be able to track a cell phone through an app or an amusement park to track through an rfid device in a ticket.

Lol...different lives and priorities I guess. If we ever had a trip where not 1 of the kids in the stroller ever fell asleep; I'd say we were doing it (Disney) wrong. Just different ways of doing things. For us we don't get to spend alot of time throughout the year with the family we go with so while we're at Disney we all generally like to stay together so it would never cross our minds to change our plans or to turn right around and go back because a kid who has a stroller fell asleep on the bus ride over (heck there's a good chance they'd wake back up by the time you got back to the resort). For us we have absolutely no issues with having a kid sleep quietly in the stroller while we enjoy each other's company.

Well aren't you just a Mary Poppins! Practically perfect in every way, huh?

To the person asking about finger scanners in 2015, yes finger scanning was there (my then 13 year old couldn’t remember which finger she used.every.single.time. Sigh. I don’t remember anything about pictures, but I’m sure they made accommodations.
