Question about kid's menus

I see on the menus that for a lot of the kid's meals that "french fries and soda available upon request." For example, here is from Cosmic Ray's:

Kids' Picks: Choice of Mixed Greens Salad With Chicken, Chicken Nuggets, or Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich - Served with choice of two side items: grapes, carrot sticks, or applesauce and choice of beverage: 1% milk, apple juice, or small bottled water. French fries and soda available upon request.


Does this mean you can replace one of the side items with french fries for no additional cost? Thanks!

Thanks. I thought so, but then I started uber-analyzing the statement and confusing myself.

They moved away from fries and soda being the default a few years back to offer more healthy alternatives but yes you can gets fries and soda as your sides/drink
