The Disney Website states the following :

Hurricane Policy Statement

"From June 1 to November 30, 2007, in the event a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area or for the guest's place of residence within 7 days before the scheduled arrival date, the guest may call in advance to reschedule or cancel their Walt Disney Travel Co. Magic Your Way vacation package without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney. This temporary policy also applies to most Walt Disney World® Resort room-only reservations booked directly with Disney, as well as reservations at Disney's Vero Beach Resort or Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort in the event a hurricane warning is issued for those destinations."

I'm wondering what that would mean for DVC points?
Does anyone have more facts.

Thanks.

In the past, Disney has been pretty flexible with the DVC members. I'm sure others will jump in with actual stories. I'm just going by what I've heard.:

Looking at the title of your thread, I was surprised to find out that there is a law enforcement group for hurricanes! ::cop:

Sorry....couldn't resist! :)

:rolleyes1

I wondered the same thing....:thumbsup2
(I actually thought maybe it was about "curfews" that are often put in place after hurricanes and enforced by law enforcement)

We were staying at Vero Beach in Oct. 2005 when a hurricane was coming. You would think I could remember the name of the hurricane since I was glued to the weather channel.:rotfl:

We planned VBR for 1 week then onto OKW for another week. Well, we were at Vero for about 2 days when we started keeping our eye on the storm. We kept calling Disney to see what would happen with our points if we were to cancel due to the weather. They said we needed to keep calling to check on the status of the hurricane and if disney implemented a warning we would be able to re-book our vacation without penalty. Or points going into a holding. The points would just go back in our account with normal use year rules.

By day 6 the storm was getting closer and the winds were really picking up. I had an infant at the time and was not willing to wait any longer to leave. I could just picture ourselves stuck it traffic and running out of gas. So, I called disney again and they did implement the hurricane policy and returned our points. They were so great!!! Although, they did wait until the storm was due to hit in 48 hours. But otherwise we had a great experience.

We drove to vero from NJ so I don't know how this would have all played out if we flew. Hope this helps. My husband and I always say we would go again during hurricane season again since Disney was so great. Our other timeshare would have never given us anything. It would have been a total loss.
