Question about how to use my old tickets?

I had planned to go to Disneyland in March of 2020. I had my tickets purchased and everything but things shut down and I didn't get to go. I still have those tickets which say they can be used all the way up until December of 2021. I heard there's going to be some sort of reservation system when the park opens next month. How will that affect my unused ticket from last year? Do I still just walk up to the entrance like normal or will I have to go to the ticket booth and exchange my ticket, or do I just make a reservation and then use my old ticket? (If yes on the reservation, how do I make a reservation)?

As of right now, Disney has said we can use our existing tickets. No need to exchange the tickets. There's always a chance this could change, but that is what they're telling us now.

However, you will need a reservation before you can go to the park. You cannot walk up to the gate with your ticket if you don't have a reservation. They have not released any information yet about how to make a reservation, so stay tuned!

Also, if you don't live in California, you will not be welcome when the parks initially open, and nobody knows how long it will be until you are.

The Gov of California has set rules that restrict non-Californian residents during this pandemic. Disney has no control over these state driven rules.

CMs were very welcoming to all guests of all ages and sizes and variations during our ToD day this weekend.
