Question about holidays at WDW

I am considering a trip the Saturday after Thanksgiving in hopes of free dining. I know it will be busy but I'm still considering it. Do they have all the decorations up for Christmas at this time? Also is the only way to see the Holiday parade to book MVMCP? When we went in 2011 we had to book MVMCP to be able to see the parade. We went mid-December. If I decide to go at this time seeing the parade is a must! TIA!

The parade is only during MVMCP until, I think, the week of Christmas.

Decorations started going up around November 9th this past year.

As soon as Halloween is over they put up the Christmas decoration. Only the US celebrates Thanksgiving so the parks do not really do much for it. Besides a few restaurants might have something for the holiday

It begins a few days into November.

This year the parties began a little later, November 7th, because the ABC Christmas Specials were being taped in MK from the 3rd through the 6th.

I think in 2017 the first MVMCP was on November 9th.

I always go to Disney World the weekend after Thanksgiving. And yes you have to do the party to see the parade unless you wait until right before Christmas.All the decorations are up by that point and the holiday celebrations are out in full force. Epcot has the holidays around the world and the candlelight processional by then too. It is a wonderful Time to go!
